PINE LEVEL CEMETERY

 

INTRODUCTION
 
Oxford Cemetery Association was incorporated as a non profit organization in May of 1888.  Since that time this organization has been maintaining and operating Pine Level Cemetery.  This transcription was done between 1995 and 1999.  The cemetery was walked and any readable stones were transcribed.  There were some stones that were not readable, some stones are now missing, and there are many unmarked graves.  Since there are missing stones and other problems associated with older cemeteries, several additional sources were consulted.  I consulted a list contained in the cemetery records that was compiled by Mrs. Elizabeth Dias in 1903.  Another source consulted was a local genealogy compiled in the 1950's by Mrs Beatrice Daughtery of Atlanta Georgia.  I was able to obtain a list done by a student in the 1970's and also consulted a list compiled the Tomoka Chapter of the DAR in 1976.  Some inscriptions have been included because of personal knowledge of descendants or a copy of an obituary that states the individual is buried in Pine Level.  As always there are errors in transcription.  If the reader is aware of such an error or is aware of a burial that is not listed in this compilation, please notify the author so that corrections may be made.
