Sumter County, Florida

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish
of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished
memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that
must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon
the altar of Freedom.

AT THIS TIME THE SUMTER COUNTY CEMETERY PAGE IS UNDERGOING SOME FINE-TUNING.

WE HOPE YOU WILL LIKE OUR NEW LOOK WHEN WE HAVE UPDATED THIS PROJECT.

WE HAVE LISTED SOME RELATIVELY UNKNOWN CEMETERIES FROM THE WPA LIST .

WITH THE PRIMITIVE DIRECTIONS, WE REALIZE MOST WILL BE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AND WE DO NOT WISH TO DISRESPECT ANY LANDOWNER BY PUBLISHING DIRECTIONS, THIS IS ONLY MEANT TO SHOW THAT THE CEMETERIES HAD EXISTED, AND HOPE THEY STILL DO AND TO SHOW RESPECT FOR EACH PERSON THAT HAS BEEN LAID TO REST IN EACH ONE OF THE CEMETERIES.

WE HOPE TO LIST ALL THE CEMETERIES THAT WE HAVE FOUND IN THE COUNTY.

WE APPRECIATE ALL THE VOLUNTEERS THAT HAVE CONTRIBUTED THEIR TIME

AND EFFORT TO THIS PROJECT.

***ALSO PLEASE NOTE  THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO UPDATE ANY E-MAIL ADDRESSES THAT ARE NOT WORKING

SO IF YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS LISTED HERE PLEASE CONTACT US***

This list of cemeteries located in Sumter County, Florida has been compiled from the US Geological Survey
and from what the people of Sumter sent to us. We have also found a list with many previously unknown cemeteries, we are calling it WPA list.  It was compiled to list the veterans listed in Sumter County Cemeteries.
Please be patient with directions as this was the way people gave directions, and in many cases, they are now on private property and a person should use good judgement in locating these cemeteries.  The directions are meant to describe where they were as listed at the time of the cemetery surveys done for the WPA list.
It should not be taken as a complete list of cemeteries in the
county,
as many small private cemeteries still may exist in this old part of Florida.
If you know of a cemetery that you
feel should be listed, please forward that info and I will have put up as soon as possible.
Feel free to e-mail pictures of your family member's picture, along with inscription, with cemetery information,
as we are in the process of gathering pictures now to attach to each cemetery listing .
Thank you all for your input!

OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE ALL INFORMATION ABOUT EVERY KNOWN CEMETERY IN SUMTER COUNTY LISTED HERE
