Robert J. Fisher Robert was born on 14 February 1950 in Petoskey, Michigan. He grew up in the small western Michigan community of Greenville. After high school graduation in 1868 he spent 3 aimless years at Grand Valley State College in Allendale, Michigan. He joined the U.S. Army in April of 1971 and spent 10 years as a 98G (radio voice intercept for Spanish and Czech) stationed at 408th ASA Det at Ft. Clayton Canal Zone, 1st Operations Bn Augsburg Germany, 303rd ASA Bn at Ft. Hood Texas and the Defense Language Institute at Presidio of Monterey California as a technical Language Assistant in the Spanish dept. While stationed in Augsburg Germany, Staff Sgt Fisher found that he rather enjoyed playing with computers. So rather than spend the next 10 years doing the same thing as the previous 10 years, he decided to become a civilian, go to school and learn to play with computers and get paid for it at the same time. (what a concept!) After leaving the U. S. Army, Bob and his family moved to Orlando, Florida where he attended Valencia Community College, University of Central Florida and Webster University. He joined Martin-Marietta (now Lockheed-Martin) in August of 1984 where he is still employed as a Software Engineer. Bob has worked on a variety of defense related projects including LANTIRN, TADS/PNVS, MLRS, Comanche and Longbow, and is looking forward to participating in the upcoming engineering labor shortage. He has been researching his family history for several years and decided that helping others with their research would be a worthwhile endeavor during his upcoming retirement.
