The Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida
The Heritage Museum of Northwest
Florida has a public reference library available for on-site research
during regular museum hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 11am - 4pm). The museum
archives contain an extensive collection of area newspapers including
the Okaloosa News Journal, the Playground Daily News, the Bayou Times
and the Bay Beacon. The museum also houses Okaloosa County Marriage
Records from 1942 to 1980, city directories, Florida Census Guides,
Union and Conferate Civil War records, cemetary indices, and historical
periodicals such as the Journal of Southern History and Florida
Historical Quarterly in addition to many other books related to the
history of Northwest Florida.

materials or would like to visit the library.
There is no fee to use the library. Admission to the museum itself is
$1 for adults, free for children and members. There is a self-service
copier in the library, and copies are ten cents. Research assistance is
available upon request. Please call to make arrangements.
