Dunnellon

Dunnellon (named after J. F. Dunn, railroad promoter), is located in the south-western part of Marion County on US 41. Dunnellon was once a wild boom town created by miners attracted to various rich phosphate deposits. The ladies were told to stay off the streets after a certain hour when the miners would be hitting town to unwind. Today Dunnellon is known for its fabulous antique shops and great fishing.
