Dr. H. C. Walkup of McIntosh, one of the most promising physicians of Florida, died at his home at that place Tuesday night, Oct. fifteenth.Dr. Walkup was a native of North Carolina, and was 68 years of age. He distinguished himself as a soldier in the Confederate army, and lost an army in the service. He came to Florida about 35 years ago and settled at Orange Lake, and was one of the first to engage in the cultivation of oranges for profit. Dr. Walkup was a splendid citizen, and possessed eminent social qualities. He was a member of the Confederate Camp of this city. He was greatly loved and esteemed wherever he was known, and especially around his neighbors, and his death causes universal sorrow among them.
