Frank Woodruff Buckles




Frank Buckles is the lone survivor of World War I. He enlisted in WWI at the age of sixteen in the US Army. He returned to the United States as a Corporal. After having been a soldier in WWI, Frank became a purser on the ship Western World, where his travels led him to Manila. He was captured as a civilian by the Japanese and became a prisoner of war in WWII. Today Frank is the last of the "doughboys of WWI." Read his remarkable story!
