An Aged Pioneer Has Passed From Labor Into Rest

Mr. M. F. Dodson, of Summerfield, died Tuesday morning of paralysis.

“Squire” Dodson, as he was known, came to Summerfield over twenty years ago and for a portion of that time owned and occupied a farm several miles southwest of that village. In later years he resided at Summerfield and was engaged in the mercantile business until a year or so ago, when his enfeebled health compelled him to retire.
For quite a number of years after coming to Summerfield he held the office of justice of the peace and conducted its affairs with credit to himself and to the satisfaction of the people.
He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death, among them Fillmore Dodson, a former overseer of roads in this city and Frank, a salesman at the Racket Store.
Deceased was a good citizen, a consistent Christian and he leaves the world a better place for having lived in it. Peace to his ashes.
Mr. Fillmore Dodson came up yesterday and secured the coffin of E. C. Smith and interment took place in the afternoon.
