South Lake Weir
Mr. James H. Moon of Fallsington, Pa., now a guest at Lakeside, called on old friends here this week. Mr. Moon was one of the first settlers on the lake, coming here in ‘76, when Mr. C. L. Porter was the only resident on this side and no neighbors nearer than Mr. James Joslyn at Eastlake. Although well advanced in years, Mr. Moon is vigorous in mind and body and his reminiscences of early days are of thrilling interest. Then the nearest store and post office were in Ocala and the nearest railway station was at Gainesville and deer, wild turkey and other game abounded on every hand.
