Dr. Daniel S. Chase

Dr. Daniel S. Chase, one of the Pioneer settlers of South Lake Weir, died in Medford, Mass., where he had made his home the past few years, on June 3rd, after a short illness of pneumonia, aged 90 years. Dr, Chase was one of the original homesteaders here and one of the first to engage in the culture of oranges and lemons. Few men were better known in Marion County, as he always took an active interest in all public affairs. He leaves a widow and two sons, all in Massachusetts, and a sister, Mrs. C. L. Porter, of Watsonville, California. 

Note Linda Flowers...Daniel S. Chase was issued 159.76 acres of land in Marion County on May 4, 1885. He is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, Mas.
