The town of Fanning
Springs is located in
the northwestern part of Levy County, but extends into Gilcrest County
as well. There are two other towns in Florida that has this distinction
of being located in more than one county. Fanning Springs has been
known under several other names through its growth (Fannin Springs,
Palmetto, Sikesville and Suwannee River), but in 1977 settled on its
currant name, which came from the Fort that was established there in
1838 during the Seminole Wars and also due to a natural Spring. |
