 on 12-16-1872. He was assasinated at his home "by a negro" on 12-26-1899.
His name is recorded on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, DC
 (east wall, panel 8, line 20) Also in photograph are Ashley Spooner and Will Ross.
