Florida GenWeb Digital Library and Archives Post Card Project

photo Steamboat on the Ocklawaha RiverThe purpose of the FLGenWeb Digital Library is to educate our visitors with Florida's  progress.  Our Goal is to preserve and share these images.

Through the years post cards have been a way of  communication which was very reasonable for people to send.  Many of the cards in this collection are of the penny variety.  That is what it cost to send one.  Around 1957 postage was up to 2¢ a card. Still a bargain.

In the early 1900's you could take a photograph to the camera shop and have a post card made of any image you had.  Homes, people and animals were sent.  No more did people have to write and cross their lines.  One picture was worth a thousand words was a phrase used often.

Our hope is that the FLGenWeb Digital Library and Archives will become the best resource for Florida history.
With your help this can be achieved.  We welcome your additions to the collection.

The Original FLGenWeb Project begun in 1996 & incorporated as 501(c)3 not-for-profit in 2008, with over ten years of accumulated data contributions.
