William Brantley MOSLEY Jr (1800-1873) and Lavina SILLIVANT (1805-aft

PENGREE,
I am trying to
find out the origins of my ancestor William Pengree, who was one of the
earliest settlers of British East Florida (1763-1783). We have found a
good bit of information on him from a book on the history of Clay
County, the 1783 Spanish census, and other sources. We at first thought
he was a Loyalist from Georgia or South Carolina. We are now beginning
to believe he was came directly from England to Florida as a partner of
John Tucker under the auspices of the British East Florida Company.
Where should we look next to try to determine where he was from prior
to Florida? I am Clayton Rhodes of Savannah, GA. Send e-mail to Clayton
