Concordia Conference Minutes - 1865

County Coordinator's Notes: In the years before the Civil War, this church
accepted slaves of their members into the church. A slave will not have a surname,
only a given name, and usually the words "belonging to Mr. Whoever." Abbreviations
commonly used at this time include: Bro. for Brother. C.C. or Ch Clk for church clerk.
Around this time, a Methodist church was established in Concord, and the reason many people
are being excommunicated this year is because they became members of the Methodist Church.
