Concordia Conference Minutes - 1862

County Coordinator's Notes: In the years before the Civil War, this church
accepted slaves of their members into the church. A slave will not have a surname,
only a given name, and usually the words "belonging to Mr. Whoever." Abbreviations
commonly used at this time include: Bro. for Brother. C.C. for church clerk.

January 25th A.D. 1862
Church of Christ at Concord

After Preaching by the paster Conference opend. Moved by Bro. Timmons that another Deacon be elected, Bro. ____ being elected he accepted the office of Deacon. The Church appointed our next meeting for the ordination. Appointed that clerk request Bro. Johnson to Seat with us in council to assist in ordaining Bro. Scott.

The present Clerk offered his resignation which was received. Bro. R. H. Reeves was then chosen and elected. He accepted the office after which there being no further business Dismissed in order.

After Preaching by Bro. Johnson, opened Conference opened door of the Church for reception of members. No person Came forward. Read proceedings of Last meeting. Moved by Bro. Johnson that at the close of the 11 oclock Servises on tomorrow be set apart for the purpose of ordaining Bro. Scott as Deacon. Was agreeable with Church. After the Reading of the covenant and Decorum there being no further business dismissed in order.
