County Coordinator's Notes: In the years before the Civil War, this church
accepted slaves of their members into the church. A slave will not have a surname,
only a given name, and usually the words "belonging to Mr. Whoever." Abbreviations
commonly used at this time include: Bro. for Brother. C.C. for church clerk.
