This old cemetery is located within a walled area in the front
yard of the home of Dr. Sarah Skinner. The gate allows one to
enter the Skinner protion where there are only two grave markers and
one larage family plot marker. Through the center wall, one
enters the older section for the Bowden family burials. There is
a row of four markes with no dates, two with initials only, and two
with given names only. We have concluded the dientity of these
graves from research. Anna Mary Bowden married John Deter Kelly, Sr. It is assumed that these four graves are for the parents and two children. Mercy B.Bowden married David L. Carr in 1866. There is an obit for Davis Lewis Carr in the Florida Times-Union stating that his funeral took place yesterday and he was interred in Bowden's Cemetery. There is no marker. We have not determined a connection with Louis Z. Hogan, but it may be that he was a grandson or great-grandson of Lewis Zacharia Hogan(s) one of the found fathers of Jacksonville.
