FORT MEADE - Mr. William Marvin Lanier, 83, of Fort Meade, FL, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at his residence in Fort Meade of cancer.  Mr. Lanier was born November 5, 1925 in Dothan, AL. He lived most of his life in Fort Meade. Mr. Lanier served in the US Army Infantry during WWII, from the beaches of Normandy, through the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion Post #23 and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a Supervisor for Coca-Cola Company for 42 years and was a member of Cornerstone Church of God.
 He was preceded in death by his daughter Rita Lanier.
 He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Velma Cannon Lanier of Fort Meade; two daughters: Sandy & Kenny DeVane of Fort Meade and Brenda & Jim Looker of Panama City; one son, Dale & Cathy Lanier of Fort Meade; two sisters: Eunice & Don LaFavers of Apopka and Louise Asbel of Winter Garden; Four Grandchildren, Jason & Olivia DeVane, Derek & Brooke DeVane, Kyle DeVane and Lynn & Junior Shiver all of Fort Meade; Ten Great Grandchildren.
 Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL, where the family will receive friends Monday, June 22, 2009.
 Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Fort Meade at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 23, 2009, Rev. Kenny Slay & Rev. Ed Kendrick officiating.

FORT MEADE - Velma Cannon Lanier, 84, a native of Fort Meade, FL, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 9, 2012, due to heart failure. Velma was born December 29, 1927 in Fort Meade.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Marvin Lanier, daughter Rita Kay Lanier, two sisters Walton Brewer & Doris Hendrick and four brothers John, Matthew, Charles & Clois Cannon.
She is survived by her daughters Sandy DeVane & husband Kenny of Fort Meade, FL and Brenda Looker & husband Jim of Panama City, FL, son Dale Lanier & wife Cathy of Fort Meade, sister Rozene Proctor of Winter Haven, grandchildren Jason & Olivia DeVane, Derek & Brooke DeVane, Kyle & Stephie DeVane and Lynn & Junior Shiver, all of Fort Meade, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces & nephews.
 The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at First Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM on Thursday at First Baptist Church, 307 East Broadway in Fort Meade. LAKELAND - Virginia "Dovey" Lanier, 80, died Jan 14, 2013 at Consulate Health Care due to respiratory failure. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Southside Baptist Church, where she loved to sing in the choir. She also enjoyed taking walks. > Mrs. Lanier was preceded in death by her husband Norman "Wayne" Lanier; parents Charlie and Stella Mixon and sister Rachel Hiott.  > She is survived by daughter Paula (Bob) Schmitz, Atlanta, GA; brothers Early (Kathryn) Mixon, John Mixon ;sister Martha (Earl) Pitman, all of Lakeland; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

LAKELAND - Mrs. Elizabeth Lanier, age 87, died of heart failure Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2008). Born in Irwin Co., GA., on Dec. 1, 1920, she came here from Ocilla, GA., in 1936. She was a sectionizer. She was a member of Gibsonia Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post #8002.
 Mrs. Lanier was preceded in death by her husband Dallas Osburn Lanier, and daughter Mary Buchan.
 She is survived by her son David Lanier, Lakeland; brother J.C. Buchanon, Lakeland; sisters Dorothy Hampton, Emma Jean Barfield, both of Lakeland; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 21, at Bethel Baptist Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will be in Socrum Cemetery. Lanier Funeral Home.

>BEATRICE LANIER - 91 - Frostproof Elementary School
FROSTPROOF - Beatrice Lanier, 91, of Frostproof died of heart failure Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at The Grove Center.
Born January 11, 1916 in Frostproof, where she has been a lifelong resident. She was a retired lunchroom worker for Frostproof Elementary School and a member of the Frostproof Church of God.
 Mrs. Lanier was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Lanier in 1998, and her daughter, Vannessa Dozier in 1994.
 Survivors include her brother; Kelly Sheffield of Frostproof; sisters, Melbert Hawkins of Frostproof; Alvena Arnold of Frostproof; Ruby Cannon of Lakeland; Alda Phillips of Lakeland; grandson, Jeriame Jackson of Frostproof; great granddaughter, Madison Jackson of Frostproof.
 The family will be receiving friends until service on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the Frostproof Church of God with Rev. Leon Groover and Rev. Curtis Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at the Eden Cemetery in Frostproof. Condolences may be sent to -Ledger, July 19, 2007
> CHARLIE LANIER – 53 - Heavy Equipment  Operator
HOMELAND - Charlie Lanier, age 53, died Tues. November 11, 2008 in an industrial accident.
Born in Bartow on April 8, 1955, Mr. Lanier was a lifelong area resident. He worked for Moretrench Contracting as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Lanier was also an US Army veteran.
 He is preceded in death by his father C.H. Lanier, step mother Geraldine Lanier, and his mother Redia Bloodworth.
 He is survived by his son Stephen Lanier of Homeland, four sisters: Juanita Baker of Greenwood, SC, Lou Smith of Fort Meade, Peggy Johns of Lake City, Geri Wilson of Bell, two brothers: Ronnie Bloodworth of Palatka, Aaron Lanier of Bowling Green, and a step sister Sarah Schofield of Zolfo Springs. He also leaves behind a granddaughter Jasmine Lanier, and an aunt Verna Atwell of Fort Meade.
 Visitation for Mr. Lanier will be Sunday November 16th at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Services will follow Monday November 17th at the funeral home chapel. Condolences may be made to the family at – Ledger, Nov. 14, 2008
> AUDREY (JEAN) LANIER - 76 - Teacher
LAKELAND - Audrey Jean Davenport Lanier, went to be with her Lord on March 26, 2014 due to heart failure. She was born on September 18, 1937 in Norfolk, VA, the only daughter of Audrey and Joseph Davenport. After graduating from Montpelier High School, she earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and a Master's degree in Education from the University of South Florida. She moved to Lakeland and began a career in teaching that lasted more than 30 years. She taught at John Cox Elementary, Southwest Elementary and Lakeland Highlands Middle School. She also shared her experience by teaching classes at Florida Southern College. She had a passion for teaching and enjoyed talking with her former students over the years. Audrey enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs throughout her life. She had a variety of hobbies including knitting, making cards, cooking and other crafts. Audrey was involved in a variety of organizations including The Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an honorary organization for key women educators. She was a charter member and held a variety of positions. Audrey had a strong faith in God and was actively involved in her church. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. For many years Audrey and her husband Curtis supported the Lakeland Dreadnaughts and they were a fixture in the stands at football games. Audrey will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was generous with her time and knowledge. She was a loving mother, caring grandmother, reliable friend, and helpful neighbor. She was >preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Curtis Lanier and her daughter, Debbie Adrian. >She is survived by her daughter Tonya and her husband Flip Farinella; her son Mark and his wife Dianne Lanier; her son-in-law Richard Adrian; her nine grandsons: David, Greg, and Adam Hahn; Luke, Sam and Drew Lanier; Hunter, Jacob and Kyle Adrian. She also had eleven great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Family Worship Center Joy Center, 1330 East Rose Street, Lakeland, FL.
