>MRS. GRACIE G. GRIMES – 92 – Homemaker
LAKELAND -- Mrs. Gracie G. Grimes of Lakeland died of heart failure Saturday (Jan. 3, 2004) at Meadowview Life Center. She was born in Lakeland on Nov. 7, 1911, she was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Green Pond Baptist Church of Polk City where she was a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Green Pond WMU Ladies Auxiliary.
 Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Keaver Grimes.
 She is survived by her son, Charles L. Grimes, Polk City; half sisters, Ella Judy, Polk City, Willie Mae Gardner, Georgia; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be, Wednesday at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale. Services will be Thursday at Green Pond Baptist Church in Polk City. -  Ledger, January 6, 2004

POLK CITY -- Mr. James Lewis Grimes of Polk City died of cancer Tuesday (Sept. 24, 2002) at home. He was born in Lakeland on July 20, 1932, he was a lifelong resident of Polk County. He was a retired grove ranch foreman and a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Green Pond Baptist Church in Polk City. > Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Grimes; sons, Robert Lee Grimes, Lacoochee, Gregory Mitchell Grimes and Jessie Dale Grimes, both of Polk City, Randy Leonard Grimes, Walterboro, S.C., and James Allen Grimes, Lakeland; daughter, Gloria Beatrice Stalnaker, Madison; mother, Gracie Brown Grimes Deeson Renard, Lakeland; brother, Charles Grimes, Polk City; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be,Thursday at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 E. WINTER HAVEN - Mrs. Barbara Jean Grimes of Winter Haven died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at her residence due to Leukemia.  She was born in Winter Haven, FL on February 15, 1931. She was a registered nurse and of the Baptist Faith.  Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her brother Sonny Peebles. She is survived by her husband, of 57 years, James N. Grimes, son James M. Grimes, and daughter Ginger Leigh Grimes, all of Winter Haven. Visitation is Tues., at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. LAKELAND -- Mrs. Ona Melvina Grimes of Lakeland died of cancer Saturday (March 22, 2003) at her home. She was 85. Born June 17, 1917, in Livingston, Tenn., she came here from Livingston in 1933. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Gapway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Grimes.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Grimes, Lakeland, Coy Grimes, Pontotoc, Miss.; daughters, Ada Donaldson and Shirley McClain, both of Lakeland, Olene Middleton, LuVerne, Ala., Ellen Ingle, Tampa; sister, Birtie Sandoval, Tampa; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. - Visitation will be,Tuesday at Lanier Funeral Home. LAKELAND - Mr. Donald Harvey Grimes, 66, passed away March 2, 2010 at his home due to complications of lung cancer. Mr. Grimes was born September 26, 1943 in Lakeland, Florida to Harvey and Ona (Richardson) Grimes. He was a member of the Bethany Free Will Baptist Church and the Ridge Archers. Mr. Grimes also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Donald was preceded in death by his son Donald H. Grimes, Jr.
 Survivors include his wife, Ann Grimes; sons, Randy and Allen Solano; daughter, Tonya Lynn Grimes; sisters, Ellen Ingle of Tampa, Fl, Olene Middleton of Luverne, AL, Ada Donaldson of Polk City; and seven grandchildren. LAKELAND - Coy Grimes, 60, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2007 from cancer.
Coy was born October 7, 1947 in Lakeland, Fl.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey and Ona Grimes; brother Melvin Grimes; sister Shirley McClain.
 He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia Grimes; sons Steven Lee Grimes, Frank Alford and Jerry Grimes; brother Donald Grimes; sisters Ada Donaldson, Olene Middleton and Ellen Ingle; grandsons Hunter, Stetson Grimes, Colton Grimes, O.C. Young and Cody Alford; granddaughters Brittany and Brandy Grimes and Casey Alford; his dogs Gizmo, Chad and C.J. Grimes.
Mr. Grimes was of the Baptist Faith and served in the U S Marines during the Vietnam War.
Family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Eugena M. Grimes of Winter Haven died of heart failure Sunday (Oct. 9, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. She was 86. Eugena came to Winter Haven from Ashtabula, Ohio, in 1953. She was a homemaker, pianist and painter. She was a member of the Polk County Gem and Mineral Society Rock Hounds.
 Mrs. Grimes is survived by her husband, Ben S. Grimes; sons, William Grimes, Lakeland, Thomas Grimes, Auburndale, Daniel Grimes, Wewahitchka; daughters, Dianne Calandra, Linda Sue Wagner, both of Auburndale; brother, Harmon O. Tidd, Ashtabula; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

HAINES CITY -- Mrs. Charlotte Grimes, a former school bus driver for the Polk County School Board, died of heart failure Thursday (June 2, 2005) in Davenport. She was 58. "She drove the bus for about 10 years," her daughter-in-law, Rachel Coleman of Haines City, said, noting that she drove the same route in Polk County for the 10 years. Born in Jacksonville on March 9, 1947, she came to Haines City with her parents from Jacksonville in 1959. Fishing was a hobby of Mrs. Grimes. "She loved to fish anywhere," Coleman said. "She was up for anything."
 Mrs. Grimes is survived by her husband of 42 years, Thomas Grimes; sons, Donald Grimes, St. Petersburg, Shawn Grimes, Haines City; daughters, Angie Grimes, Wendy Aguero, both of Haines City; brother, David Forrester, Davenport; sister, Sheryl Simmons, Haines City; 14 grandchildren; onegreat-grandchild. -  Visitation will be Sunday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 1001 Grace Ave., Haines City. LAKELAND -- Mr. Charles Grimes Jr. of Lakeland died of heart failure Friday (Nov. 26, 2004) at his home. He was 79. Born Nov. 19, 1925, he was a lifelong resident of Lakeland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He was a rancher. He was a member of Gapway Baptist Church.
 Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Grimes.
 He is survived by his son, David Grimes, Lakeland; daughter, Brenda Swilley, Lakeland; sister, Esther Raines, Lakeland; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. LAKELAND - Clinton Grimes was born in Lakeland, FL. and passed away on May 6, 2011 due to cancer. He lived in Lakeland all his life. He graduated from Kathleen High in 1947, went into the Navy from 1948-1949 and traveled on the Henry S. Tucker destroyer to Korea, China, Japan, Hawaii and the Philippines. When he returned he married his high school sweetheart until her death in 2002. He worked for CSX Railroad for 41 years. After retiring in 1991 he became a cattle rancher, always had a garden and a avid hunter and fisherman which he taught to his children and grandson. He was a true Florida cracker.
He is preceded in death by his wife Obera Silver Grimes. one deceased brother Bobby Grimes
He is survived by his son, Dennis Grimes and wife Pamela, and his only grandson Wesley; daughter, Diane Grimes Coleman and husband Hal; one living brother, Jimmy Grimes and wife Rose Marie.
After retiring he spent many good times at their home in N.C. which they loved. His sense of humor, love and devotion to his family will be missed and remembered forever.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday 05/11/11 at Lake Gibson Church of the Nazarene with visitation at the church on Wednesday. - Interment will be in Lakeland Memorial Gardens.- Ledger, May 8, 2011

LAKELAND - Bobby L. Grimes, age 74, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Bobby was born on November 24, 1932, he was a third-generation lifelong resident of Lakeland. He attended local schools and graduated from Kathleen High School, class of 1951. He was a general foreman for CSX Railroad. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted member of the Kathleen Area Historical Society, volunteering many hours on their behalf.
 Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Johnnie Mae Grimes.  He is survived by his loving wife Elaine; children, Gary (Susan) Grimes, Keith (Pam) Grimes, Cheryl (Jeff) Schwartz, Alisa (Ira) Anderson, Mona (Jon) Burtz, and Curtis (Eileen) Holzschuh; brothers Clinton Grimes and Jimmy (Rosemarie) Grimes; mother-in-law Emilie Evans; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
 Visitation will be Saturday, October 6, 2007  at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel with a service to follow.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Louis Grimes of Lakeland died of complications from diabetes Friday (Oct. 7, 2005) in Winter Haven. He was 69. Born March 31, 1936, Mr. Grimes lived in Lakeland his entire life. He worked as a carpenter. He attended the Church of God.

FROSTPROOF -- Mrs. Amy Grimes of Frostproof died of heart failure Sunday (Jan. 22, 2006) at Lake Wales Medical Center. She was 84. She was born in Sylvester, Ga., on Feb. 18, 1921. She was a laborer for Coca-Cola. She was a member of First Baptist Hilltop Church in Frostproof.
 Mrs. Grimes is survived by her daughters, Nadine Williams, Tampa, Virginia Williams, Juanita LeGrand, Betty Smith, all of Frostproof; son, Larry Grimes, Dobson, N.C.; three sisters; 14 grandchildren.

 She is survived by her husband Jesse Grimes; sister Ladean Goolsby Light of Texas; daughters Kimberly Skaggs Goodwin, Karrie Skaggs Demonte, Tonya Skaggs Dover, and Misty McCall (Matt). She is also survived by her former husband Leonard Guy, Jr., all of Lakeland. She has 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. LAKELAND -- Mrs. Maxine A. Grimes of Fanning Springs, a former resident of Lakeland, died of pneumonia Saturday (March 5, 2005) at her home. She was 78. Mrs. Grimes was a resident of Lakeland for 15 years before moving to Fanning Springs. She was a cook for Dale's Kitchen, Lakeland. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Polk City.
 Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Grimes.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Grimes, MacClenny; daughters, Faye Jones, Bell, Madelyn Bernard, Oiwache, Mich., Linda Boone, Center Hill, Diane Wheeler, Plant City, Wanda Percifield, Auburndale, and Frances Ward, Fanning Springs; 27 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening at Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale. Services will be Tuesday at the funeral home. -

James "Pee Wee" Grimes of Wauchula, died Thursday, Oct. 30th in Bradenton. Born in Opp, Alabama, he had lived in Wauchula most of his life. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Wauchula, owner of the Chevron Station in Wauchula for many years, and owned Grimes Land Clearing.
 Survivors include his wife, Fayree; sister, Ruth Jeter of Wauchula; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 3rd, 2003 at Northside Baptist Church with burial in Wauchula Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday at Robarts Family Garden Chapel, Wauchula. >MR. ROBERT GRIMES – 87 – Retired City of Bartow Water Dept.
BARTOW -- Mr. Robert Grimes of Bartow died of heart failure Oct. 3, 2002, at The Rohr Home. He was 87. Born in Gordon, Ga., on Aug. 12, 1915, he later came to Bartow. He retired from the city of Bartow in the water department. He later operated a lawn service. He was a member of the Progress Lodge No. 77 Masonic Lodge, and the Lillie White Royal Arch Chapter No. 13. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Bartow, where he served on the usher board.
Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his wife, Welthie.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Grimes, Miami, Hubert Grimes, Daytona Beach, Wendell Grimes, Lakeland; daughters, Judy Grimes and L. Obiaka Washington, both of Bartow; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday at Gause Funeral Home, 625 S. Holland Parkway, Bartow.
