FORT MEADE - Mrs. Myrle Crews Aycock, age 78, of Fort Meade, FL, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009, at her home,
She was born January 30, 1931 in Gainesville, FL to the late Jackson & Emma Crews. She graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1949 and married Charles W. Aycock soon after; a marriage that lasted nearly 52 years. She retired from the Polk County Tax Collection Agency, after 12 years of dedicated service. Myrle was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade where she sang in the choir for 46 years, worked with the children of the church and reveled in decorating the church on special holidays. Myrle was an avid supporter of the First United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise, FL. Always putting her family ahead of herself, she never tired of looking after and caring for both her immediate and extended family. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading; especially the Bible.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two Sons: Dwayne & wife Suzanne Aycock of Lakeland and Dale Aycock of Bowling Green; One Sister, Mary Martin of Homeland & one Brother Earl Crews of Lakeland; Four Grandchildren: Shona Tucker of Wauchula, Sharla & husband Joshua Adams of Fort Meade, Kyle and Amy Aycock of Lakeland, and Five Great Grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by McLean Funeral Home, 306 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL, where the family will receive friends Tuesday, February 24, 2009.
Funeral service will be at First United Methodist of Fort Meade, Wednesday, February 25, 2009 , Rev. Vincent Price officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade.

WINTER HAVEN - Mr. Earl Crews, 86, passed away Sun., July 3, 2011 after a lengthy illness involving complications from Parkinson's Disease. Earl was a longtime resident of Fort Meade before moving to Winter Haven, and he was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Philippines. He retired over 25 years ago after over 35 years of employment with IMC Phosphate. Earl and his wife attended Winter Haven First Church of God for many years and previously Fort Meade First Church of God. He was a very loving husband and father, and was fiercely loyal and protective of his family and his faith in God. He had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Earl was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Jack and Emma Crews, five brothers and sisters, and his loving wife of 64 years, Lila Rea Crews who just passed away on May 17th.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Maureen Crews,Mulberry, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Chuck Albritton, Duluth, GA; granddaughters, Ashlie Albritton Zusi and husband Russ, Kristin Albritton Rosado, Monica Griffin, Brandy Griffin; great-grandsons, Andrew and Davis Zusi; sister, Mary Martin; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

WINTER HAVEN - Mrs. Lila Rea Crews, 81, passed away Tues., May 17, 2011 at Winter Haven Hospital due to heart failure.
Mrs. Crews was born on July 12, 1929 in Fort Meade, where she was a longtime resident, before moving to Winter Haven, FL several years ago. She was a retired loan officer for SunTrust Bank, and spent many years working in the Fort Meade branch. Mrs. Crews was a member of the First Church of God, Winter Haven, FL where she served as church treasurer. She was a former member of Fort Meade First Church of God where she and her husband served as youth leaders and Sunday School teachers for many years. Mrs. Crews was also a graduate of Fort Meade High School, class of 1947.
Mrs. Crews was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Hancock.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Earl Crews, Winter Haven, FL; son, Ron Crews and wife Maureen, Mulberry, FL; daughter, Penny Crews Albritton and husband Chuck, Deluth, GA; grandchildren, Ashlie A. Zusi and husband Russ, Kristin Albritton Rosado; great-grandchildren, Andrew Zusi and Davis Zusi; nephews, Wally Hancock and wife Nancy, Chip Tompkins and wife Karol; niece, Cennetta Reynolds and husband Bill.

HOMELAND - Mary O. Martin, died Sunday, September 9, 2012, due to complications of a stroke at Palm Terrace of Lakeland. Born December 15, 1932 in Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Martin attended public schools in Fort Meade, moving to Homeland with her husband in 1950. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist of Homeland and Polk County Historical Society.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. "Bob" Martin and daughter, Jean Brown.
Mary is survived by two daughters: Joy Cantwell & husband William of Savannah, GA and Jan Fussell & husband Herman of Englewood, FL; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren & 3 great great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 6-8 PM, at McLean Funeral Home, Fort Meade.

POLK CITY - God gained another Angel on April 4, 2013. Mr. Dewitt Crews died after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dewitt was born on January 22, 1939, to Sim & Irene Crews. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and owner/operator semi-truck driver. He really enjoyed life & lived it to the fullest. His many hobbies included cooking for friends & family, hunting, traveling, wood working, bird watching & gardening. He was admired & loved by many. He had a heart of gold & would give someone the shirt off of his back if they needed it.
Dewitt will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Sandra Moore Crews, children Donna Hood, Elizabeth "Beth" Wilson (Charlie), Kenny Crews (Pamela). In addition, he is survived by former wife & mother of his children Joan Mong Gentry, brother Neil Crews, sister Francis Crews, grandchildren Brittanie (Justin) Dann, Bryan Wilson, Brandon (Ashlee) Brun-elle, Kayla, Angela (Stacy) Leggs, Kenneth, Cody, Sarah, Bentlee, Noah, McKenzie & Gray, great grandchild Austin Eisenhour.
He is predeceased by parents Sim & Irene Crews, siblings Stella Mae, Evelyn, Gwendolyn, Everett, Bill, Joe, & Eddie, grandchild Eva Faith Sharber.

Lake Wales- Denzel passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Lake Wales, Florida. Mr. Crews was born in Bereah, Florida on August 28, 1918 to Harry Lester and Nora (Lanier) Crews. He was a Rancher and Farmer, served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II; he was a member of Athens Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Bereah, Florida.

Born March 25, 1947 in Lakeland, FL; he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a electrician and a member the R.R.P.O.A., the V.F.W., and the N.R.A. He was also a volunteer fire fighter for the Department of Forestry.
Robert was preceded by his grandson, Steven Tyler Davis; sister, Frances E. Crews; and parents, Homer D. & Sadie Lake.
Survivors include his daughters, Janis D. He was a retired security guard. He was of the Protestant faith and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Lake was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Inez Lake in 1996, and his daughter, Frances E. Crews.
