Mrs. Elizabeth N. COMBEE / GREENE –
85 – Clark & Daughtery
Lakeland - Mrs. Elizabeth N. Greene of Lakeland died of congestive heart failure Saturday ( Aug. 30, 2003 ) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 85. Elizabeth was born Jan. 25, 1918,to MARCUS VANDERBILT COMBEE and CARRIE McCLELLAND/COMBEE in Groveland where she lived until her mothers passing when she was only 12 years old. She then moved to Lakeland, 73 years ago, and grew up as a member of Gapway Baptist Church, and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a retired bookkeeper
with Clark & Daughtrey Medical Group, working there for 25 years,
where she retired in the early 1980’s. She was a member of
Gapway Baptist Church.Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her husband,
Robert B. Greene.
She is survived by her
daughters,
Barbara Cook, Lithia, Jane G. Aycock, Lakeland; half-brother, Neil
Combee, Gainesville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and
three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gentry-Morrison Southside. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and
Carrie, her 2 sisters and 3 brothers, Aline Lerah Combee, , Ione
Combee, Herbert Devon “Jack” Combee, James Rudolf Combee,
and Clifford Kanova Combee, her husband and the recent passing of her
son, Thomas Tritram Greene, great-great grandson Wade Harrison and
great-great granddaughter Faith Renee Allen.
In the 1930’s she married
Robert Brazzle Greene and gave him 3 children. Her life gave her many
experiences from living through the depression, welding in the shipyard
during WWII, to finishing bookkeeping school. Elizabeth and her sister
Ione married brothers.
