Elbert of Lake Wales passed away Wed. June 22, 2011 at his son's home.
Elbert was born Jan. 25, 1924 in Altha, Fl.( Calhoun,Co.,Fl. ) to the
late Elbert Ayers
Sr. and Nettie ( Dixon ) Ayers. He came to Lake Wales in 1946. He
was retired from F.M.C. delivering plant machinery and chemicals.
Elbert attended the Lake Buffum Church, and is a veteran of WWII,
serving in the U.S. Navy. He also enjoyed gardening.
Elbert was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Jean Ayers in
1996, and a son, Hugh Wright.
Survivors include his daughters, Alice Carpenter of Lake Wales
and Wanda Kuhns of Frostproof; sons, Jimmy Ayers of Bradenton, Charles
Ayers of Winter Haven, Dale, Kennith Ayers , and Mitchell Carpenter all
of Lake Wales; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Marion
Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales and Visitation after.
Interment will follow at the Lake Buffum Baptist Church Cemetery.

heart disease Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2005). She was 71. Martha came to
Winter Haven from Lafollette, Tenn., in 1980. She was a member of Lake
Region Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley B. Ayers.
She is survived by her sons, Lester Ayers, Lafollette,
Billy Ayers, Stinking Creek, Tenn., Gabriel Ayers, Winter Haven;
daughters, Gail Love, Winter Haven, Loucille Jones, Lafollette, Rhonda
Page, Auburndale, Sheila Chamberlain, Lakeland; 20 grandchildren; 15

FORT PIERCE, FL - Genevieve Helen Ayers, 78, died August 29, 2011 in
Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mrs. Ayers was born in Burke, Virginia and moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida
in 2011 coming from Auburndale, Florida. She enjoyed painting and doing
crafts. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include her sons,

of Lumberton, NC; daughter, Sherri

great-grandchildren.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ayers,

Bartow - Mrs. Norice Ayers of 495 S. Floral Ave. died this morning at a
hospital here where she had been a patient since August 20. She was a
native of Quitman, Ga. she had lived in Bartow section for 34 years and
was a member of First Methodist Church and of the Order of the Eastern
Star.
Survivors are her
husband, Arthur P. AYERS; 2 sons, Adrian P.

April 26, 1923, she came to Florida in 1978. She was a bookkeeper for
Central Travel. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Winter Haven.
Ms. Ayers is survived by her daughters Karen Somers, Clearwater,

Mary Moklebust, Des Moines, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 22 great

died of heart failure Thursday (Aug. 2, 2007) at home.
Born in Rockford, Iowa, on August 18, 1925, he came to Winter Haven
from Soldier, Wisconsin, in 1978. He retired from Carson Plumbing in
1987 as a sales manager. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a
member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven.
Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife, Mary A. Ayers, Winter
Haven; 2
daughters, Karen (Dennis) Somers, Clearwater, Mary (Joe) Moklebust,
Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Dennis Peterson (Dec), Michael Peterson, Thomas

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Joe P. Ayers of Lake Wales died of heart
failure June 25, 2004. He was 92.Born in Elkins, W.Va., and came to
Lake Wales in 1972. Joe was an electrician for Goodyear Aircraft Corp.,
in Akron, Ohio, for 30 years. He was a 65-year member of the Masonic
Lodge.
Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his wife, Vaola B. Ayers.
He is survived by his sons, Jim Ayers, Babson Park, and Allen
Ayers, Plano, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

a long battle with cancer. She was born in Elmira, New York to parents

She is survived by Ronald Ayers, two sisters and two brothers,

many family and friends. Mr. Ayers, had a heart of gold. Services

"MITCH" AYERS - 61
JERSEY SHORE, N.J. - William Mitchell "Mitch" Ayers, 61, of 231 North
Main Street, Jersey Shore, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the
Gatehouse. Born December 4, 1949 in Guntersville, Alabama, he was the
son of Robert Jay Ayers and the former Hellon Chambers.
Mitch is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Margaret
Elizabeth "Betty" Waggoner. Also surviving are two daughters,
Mary
Michelle "Shelly" (Jeffrey) Feerrar of Turbotville and Courtney D.
(Michael) Bell of Royersford, PA, and his four beloved grandchildren,
Matthew, Zachariah, Emily and Michael.
Mitch's career spanned 30 years in the health care profession. He
most recently worked at Susquehanna Health System in Williamsport, PA,
as Patient Care Manager for the Oncology/Dialysis Unit. Prior to that,
he held the position of Director of Patient/Ancillary Services at
Jersey Shore Hospital, Jersey Shore, PA; Director of Nursing Service at
Jenkins Community Hospital, Jenkins, KY, and Administrative Director
for Staffing and Trauma Center/ER in Winter Haven, FL. He also taught
part-time at Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, PA, in
the RN and LPN programs, and at Polk Community
College, Winter Haven, FL, in the Paramedic, EMT and Nursing programs.
He was a gifted clinician and teacher.
Mitch received a
Nursing degree at Polk Community College, Winter Haven, FL; BSN at
Florida Southern College, Lakeland, FL, and MBA from Cambridge
International University Distance Learning. He also served in the
United States Air Force from 1970-1974.
He was a member of Dundee United Methodist Church, Dundee, FL. He
volunteered for various service and professional organizations
throughout his life; loved animals, especially horses and his dogs, and
adored his children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 30, 2011, in the
Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Street, Jersey Shore.
Friends may call Friday until time of services in the funeral home.
Rev. Thomas Jones will officiate.

was born in Fort Pierce and was a pioneer in area day care for three
decades.

Stuart; sister, Genevieve Whigham of Fort Pierce; six grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
She was
preceded in death by her daughter,

Sunday, March 9, 2008 at his home in Middleburg, FL. He was preceded in
death by his father, Benjamin Franklin Ayers.
He is survived
by his wife of 26 years,
Gladys; children, Natalie and Johnathan; mother, Gladys Ayers;
sister, Pam Maxwell (David); half-brother,
Frank Ayers;
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
In the past,
he volunteered with Muscular Dystrophy Association, BASCA, Clay County
Literacy, member of the Art Guild, and had a love for painting and the
outdoors.
Funeral
services in celebration of his life will be held Thursday, March 13,
2008 at Jacksonville, Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111, Blanding Blvd.,
Orange Park, FL with Robert Galentine officiating. Family and friends
will gather prior at 1:00 PM until the hour of service.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Bruce A. Ayers of Winter Haven died of
renal failure Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was
56. Born Jan. 4, 1947, in Salamanca, N.Y., he came here from Tulsa,
Okla., in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam.
He was a meat cutter for Food Lion and Publix for 25 years, and worked
for Findlay Industries. He attended Winter Haven Worship Center.
Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife, Patti Ayers;
daughters, Annie Ayers, Pompano Beach, Susan Ayers-Hoyt, Deerfield
Beach, and Cindy Braaten, Winter Haven; sons, James Ayers, Pompano
Beach, and Randy Ayers, Lakeland; mother, Anna Riddle, Pompano Beach;

65, died on May 23, 2007 of cancer in his home.
Mr. Ayers was born in
Beverly, Mass. and spent the last 19 years wintering in his
Lakeland home. He was an avid golfer and former president of the
Sandpiper Golf Club.
Mr. Ayers was survived by his wife, Betty C. Ayers of
45 years. He leaves behind two sons: Thomas & Christine Ayers of
Glenn Rock, N.J. and Joseph & Lisa Ayers of Oakton, VA.; daughter:
Sheri & Robert Trocchi of Danvers, MA., three brothers: Paul and
Richard of MA. and Kenneth of N.C., sister in-law: Eleanor & Dennis
