Polk City - George Thomas Fussell, of 726 Second St., died Wednesday at Wilnter Haven Hospital. George was a native of Auburndale , he lived in the Polk County area all his life. Mr. Fussell was a line forceman for the City of Lakeland, George was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and of the Masonic Lodge No. 91.
George is survived by his wife Carolyn Fussell, Polk City; his son, Allen Keith Douglas, Polk City; his daughter, Aelene Douglas, Polk City; his sisters, Lillie AYERS, Highland City, and Ada Commings, Auburndale. ( Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home,

Bartow - Mrs. Sadie H. Fussell of Bartow died of heart failure Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at Highlands Lake Center.
Sadie was born in Zolfo Springs, Hardee Co., Fl. on Feb. 12, 1907, she came to Bartow from Homeland 42 years ago. She was a citrus grove owner and a member of Florida Citrus Mutual. She was a member of Homeland Baptist Church.
Mrs. Fussell was preceded in death by her husband, L. V. FUSSELL.
Sadie is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Williams, Bartow; sons, Thomas J. Fussell, Tallahassee, Elvie G. Fussell, Homeland; sister Rosa Lee Bacher, Winter Haven; 8 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday Dec. 20, 2002 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St., Bartow.

MILTON - Mr. Don R. Fussell, passed away on February 6, 2011 due to heart failure.
He was born on June 24, 1935 near Auburndale, FL. to Luther David (L.D.) Fussell, Jr. and Hazel ( Driggers) Fussell. He attended school in Milton, FL. and graduated from Crestview High School, Class of 1954. He attended: FSU '54-56, and the University of W. Florida, Class of '82, BA. He then returned to FSU, graduating in '84 with a MA in SOW, Non-Profit Organization Administration. His career was mainly in City & State employment in Florida & New York, and the cities of New York and Jacksonville, FL.
Don is survived by two half-brothers and their sister, all of Lakeland, FL. as well as several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Euell and Lula Fussell and his brothers and sisters Oscar, Jane, Ebie, Elizabeth, Benjerman, and Daisy.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Ernestine Hazel Fussell of Lakeland died of cancer Friday (July 14, 2006). Born Nov. 2, 1919, in Kathleen, Mrs. Fussell lived in this area her entire life. She owned Kwik Shop Grocery on Crystal Lake Drive for more than 30 years. She attended Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Fussell was preceded in death by her husbands, Foy Wilkes and Thomas Fussell.

Mr. Harris William Fussell of Polk City died of lung failure Saturday (Sept. 17, 2005) at home. He was a Rancher. Born in Polk City on Sept. 14, 1914, he was a lifelong resident. He served as president of the Polk County Cattleman's Association for 20 years and on the Florida Farm Bureau Board of Directors for four years. He served as state director for the Florida Cattleman's Association and worked with the FFA. He was a 75-year member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and a deacon since 1950.
Mr. Fussell was preceded in death by his wife, Merle Fussell.
He is survived by his sons, Clyde, Paul, S.L., and Dwight Fussell, all of Polk City; daughters, Carolyn Fussell, Polk City, Inez Hargis, Tampa; sisters, Willa Mae Gardner, Gainesville, Ella Judy, and Marie Dunn, both of Polk City; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

LAKE ALFRED - Benjamin Franklin "Chubby" Fussell, Jr., of Lake Alfred, FL, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale from heart failure. A native of Atlanta, GA, Benjamin moved here 15 years ago from Georgia. He was a salesman for RollX Handicap Vans in Savage, MN, was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Winter Haven Moose Lodge #1023, and the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven. Benjamin has a passion for helping veterans with spinal cord injuries, and he was recently honored at MacDill Air Force base for his unselfish involvement in that area.
His wife, Violet Fussell preceded him.
Benjamin is survived by his companion: Ann Allen of Lake Alfred, FL, two daughters: M. Lee Fussell and Barbara (Alan) Peterson, both of Decatur, GA, a sister: Barbara Lipski of Decatur, GA., several nieces and nephews, and one great nephew.

LAKELAND - Mr. Ralph A. Fussell, age 89 of Lakeland passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 due to heart failure. Mr. Fussell was born in Auburndale and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired phosphate worker, an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mr. Fussell enjoyed tending his vegetable gardens, the outdoors and country music.

COCOA, FL - Ms. Gail Lynn Fussell, MSGT, U.S. Air Force - Retired of Melbourne, Florida passed away of lung cancer on July 14, 2011 in Cocoa, Florida. She was born April 26, 1956, and raised in Lakeland, Fl, where she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduating from Kathleen High School.
As a MSGT, Gail served 24 years honorably in the Philippines, Thailand and various US bases before retiring at Patrick Air Force base. After her time in the service, she retired in Melbourne where she was an auxiliary member of VFW post # 8191 for many years. She enjoyed gardening and saltwater fishing in Islamorada, Fl with her family and with her friends in Melbourne and Homestead.
Loving brothers and sisters, Gail's closest friend - Debbie Carriere of Melbourne, Fl, and other close friends and relatives attended and supported Gail during her short hospice stay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irma Lea Fussell , and George Lamar Fussell of Lakeland, Fl. She is survived by sisters Sharon Fussell Larkin of Gainesville, Fl, Nancy Fussell Miller of Lakeland, Fl, Diane Fussell Ford of Winter Haven, brother, Greg Fussell of Gainesville, twin brother Gary Fussell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, sister-in-law Paula Varnes Fussell of Gainesville, Fl, close friend Dale Hannah, and many nieces and nephews.

POLK CITY - Mr. Moi Monroe Fussell, a lifetime Polk City resident passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his home with family at his side due to liver cancer. Mr. Fussell was born July 28, 1933 in Polk City to Peter Monroe and Artice Edith (Combee) Fussell. He was a rancher, a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Polk City and a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Moi retired from the Polk County Sheriff's Department after 18 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters Mabel, Joann & Clara.
Moi is survived by his loving family: wife of 61 Years: Ima Jean Fussell of Polk City, son: Ronald Moi (Dawn) Fussell of Cocoa, FL, 2 daughters: Sylvia Jean (Ed) Duffy of Polk City, Sheri Denise (Tim) Dice of Tallahassee, FL, brother: Pete (Reba) Fussell of Polk City, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
