LAKELAND - Dianna Baxley, 74, died July 11, 2012 at Savannah Court due to Alzheimer's disease. LAKELAND - Edmon Earl Baxley, of Lakeland passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 from cancer at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was a Korean War Veteran before starting his career as an X-Ray Technician. He worked 5 years in Orlando and 49 years at the Watson Clinic. He served as Sunday School Director in his church, which he loved.  > Mr. Baxley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dianna M. Baxley of Lakeland: children, Charles Baxley, Christopher Baxley, Pamela Baxley, and Kenneth Baxley; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be Tues May 26, 2009 at Lanier Funeral Home. LAKELAND -- Mrs. G. Jeanette Craig of Lakeland died of pancreatic cancer Tuesday (April 15, 2003) at Good Shepherd Hospice at Grace Healthcare. She was born in Lakeland on Feb. 22, 1938, she was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Smokey Mountain Quilters Club and was secretary of the Gem Capitol Automobile Club, both in Franklin, N.C. She was also secretary for the Mountaineer Automobile Club in Waynesville, N.C. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church. > Mrs. Craig is survived by her husband, Ken Craig; daughter, Susan Craig, Lakeland; son, Mark Craig, Lakeland; brother, Rodney Allen Gilbert, Lakeland; three grandchildren. LAKELAND - Mr. Raymond Kenneth Craig passed away due to a rare muscle disease on Sunday, July 31, 2011. Kenneth was born on June 18, 1935 to Raymond and Lula Craig in Toney, AL. He moved to Lakeland in 1946 from Tennessee and graduated from Lakeland High School in 1955. He was an electrician for the family business, Craig Electric, which he bought later from his Dad. After retiring in 1974, Kenneth and his wife, Jeanette traveled to all of the states in the US except Alaska. His hobbies were wood working and restoring antique cars and trucks. He won many National awards from the Antiques Auto Club of America; he was also a Senior Master Judge of the club with over 100 credits. > He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette. >Kenneth is survived by son, Mark A. Craig and wife Jamie of Lakeland; daughter, Susan J. Craig of Lakeland; sister, Myra Hester of Ashburn, GA; and grandchildren, Lindsay, Kelly, Deondre and Angel. Mrs Annie Laura Kitchens of 117 Hancock Street died yesterday afternoon in Lakeland General Hospital after a long illness. A native of Georgia, she had lived in Lakeland since 1920. > She is survived by her husband, Remer P Kitchens; five daughters, Mrs Helen Mitchell, Mrs James Spivey and Mrs Clayton Everett all of Lakeland, Mrs Joseph Alvarez of Miami and Mrs Delbert McAllister of Tampa; a son, Richard Kitchens of Lakeland; three brothers, G.E. Gay, C.T. Gay and C.G. Gay all of Lakeland; her father, H.H. Gay of Lakeland; and 16 grandchildren. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 2, 1960 in Snook Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Thomas G Mitchell, pastor of College Heights Methodist Church, of which Mrs Kitchens was a member, officiating. LAKELAND -- Mr. Hugh C. Ford of Lakeland died of heart failure Friday (April 9, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Mulberry, he came here from Bainbridge, Ga., in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was employed at Lakeland Frame and Axle. He was a member of Dade City Moose Lodge 397. >Mr. Ford is survived by his wife, Betty Ford; son, Ronnie C. LAKELAND -- Mrs. Edna T. Ruth Shiver of Lakeland died of heart failure Saturday (Oct. 29, 2005) at Tandem Health Care at Lake Parker. She was born in Alachua on June 2, 1918, she came to Lakeland from there in 1928. She was a homemaker. She was also a licensed practical nurse and a 56-year consultant for Avon Products. She was a volunteer for VISTE. She was a 64-year member of Edgewood Church of Christ. >Mrs. Shiver was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Cletus Shiver. > She is survived by her daughter, Opal Gilbreath, Warner Robbins, Ga., two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. LAKELAND -- Mr. George "Buddy" Stilwell of Lakeland died of kidney failure Saturday (Dec. 6, 2003) at home. He was born in Fort Valley, Ga., on Aug. 21, 1917, he came to Lakeland from there in 1934. He was a carpenter. He was a Baptist.  Mr. Stilwell is survived by his wife, Louise Stilwell; sons, Kenny Stilwell, Rex Stilwell, both of Lakeland; daughters, Mary Rayborn, June Linton, both of Lakeland; sisters, Lillian Mercer, Lakeland, Eva Murkison, Knoxville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. LAKELAND - Martha "Louise" Stilwell, died May 31, 2012 at LRMC due to respiratory failure. Mrs. Stilwell was born and raised in Lakeland and was a member of New Home Baptist Church. >  She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Stilwell; sister, Allie Mae Canady and brothers, Buddy and A.J. LAKELAND -- Mrs. Willie M. "Billie" Tanner of Lakeland died of complications following a stroke Wednesday (Jan. 25, 2006) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was born in Dublin, Ga., on Oct. 10, 1921, she came to Lakeland from there in 1937. She was a cashier for Publix for 25 years.  She was a member of New Home Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. >Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Tanner.> She is survived by her son, Jerry F. LAKELAND - Mrs. Eva Mae (Tyner) O'Donnel, passed away Wednesday December 29, 2010 due to natural causes. Mrs. O'Donnel was born Feb. 4, 1914 in Lakeland, FL to Wade H. and Juliet Lathelia Tyner. Mrs. O'Donnel graduated from Lakeland High School in 1931 and later graduated from business school. She worked for years at a large nursery in Tampa. She was a U.S. Gov't Civil Service worker for 42 years, serving in the U.S., Japan and Germany.
>She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur O'Donnel. >Her survivors include her brothers, Dalton Tyner and Robert Tyner; and a sister, Bootsie Smith. LAKELAND - Cecil Thomas Mitchell, died of congestive heart failure Thursday Oct. 4, 2007 . Born in Cullman County, Alabama, on Oct. 10,1922.  Mr. Mitchell moved to Lakeland from Clearwater at the age of 21. He retired from Bordon Dairy Company after 35 years of service as a mechanic. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of New Home Baptist Church. >Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Helen Virginia Mitchell; sons, Cecil P. Mitchell, Dale A. He was born in Albany, Ga., on Feb. 21, 1917, he came to Lakeland when he was young. He was a baker and worked at Sunbeam Bakery in Lakeland for 28 years. She was born January 23, 1915 in TyTy, GA., and was a member of New Home Baptist Church. >She was predeceased by her first husband, James Monroe Murphy and daughter Lucille Murphy Gibson, and second husband Ralph Harrod. >She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Murphy Hodge (Jesse) and Sylvia Murphy Prescott; stepson, Ralph Harrod, Jr; 5 grandsons, Ricky Hodge, Keith Hodge (Taree), Robby Prescott (Shaun), Scott Hodge (Tracy), and Curtis Prescott; 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandsons. Mr. Glass worked as an Assistant Manager for the trafficking department at Publix and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. >He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Glass; son Phillip Glass; and 4 siblings. >He is survived by daughter Carrie (Felton) Britt; sons David (Debbie) Glass, Lionel (Cheryl) Glass; brother Melbourne Glass; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
