RAYFORD WAYNE WARD - 65 - GTE
LAKELAND - Rayford W. Ward, of Lakeland, passed away Jan. 22, 2012 from ALS-Lou Gehrig's Disease. Ray was born in Dade City, and moved to Lakeland in 1965.
Ray joined and served in the US Army for 3 years, and returned to Lakeland to begin working for GTE. He worked his way up to Systems & Projects manager, and was in charge of writing courses for training. He retired in 1994 after 25 years.
 Ray was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and the F & AM, Masonic Lodge 91 in Lakeland. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jean; a daughter Dana Ward; a sister Mary Jo Surrency; a niece Debi Hebner; a grandson James Ray Ward; and other loving family members.
 Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 from the Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in Socrum Cemetery. Friends are invited to the visitation on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 at the church. Arrangements handled by Gentry-Morrison, Northside. - Ledger,Jan. 24, 2012

JEAN B. WARD -  66 - Bethel Baptist Church
LAKELAND - Jean B. Ward, 66, passed away Oct. 23 at home, due to respiratory failure. Jean was born in Bartow, and was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a former member of Gapway Baptist Church, and currently a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
 Jean was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 2012,
 Jean is survived by her daughter Dana, her grandson James Ray Ward, two brothers James Bennett and wife Barbara, and Jay Bennett; a sister Inez Fairchild and husband Randy; a sister in law Mary Jo Surrency, and several nieces and nephews.
 Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in Socrum Cemetery.
