LAKELAND - Ms. Dale Louise Fletcher died of complications of COPD Monday (January 20, 2014). Born in Auburn, N.Y., on December 6, 1945, Dale came here from Auburn, N.Y., in 2008. She was a former member of Providence Baptist Church in Lakeland. > She was preceded in death by her father Gerald Eugene Wiggins; and brother Tim Wiggins. >She is survived by her mother Doris Irene Wiggins; son William (Amy Owens) Temple; daughter Tracie (K.J. Obenchain) Wininger; sister-in-law Pat Wiggins; brothers Jerry (Grace) Wiggins, Gordon (Patti) Wiggins; sister Christine (Robert) Vogel; granddaughters Stephanie Temple, Emily Temple. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Socrum Cemetery.-

She was a homemaker and a member of Lake Gibson Church of Christ. > Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her husband Robert Fletcher, Lakeland; son Robert L. LAKELAND - Gloria Shirley Radford, died of cancer Tuesday (March 2, 2010). Born in Hartsfield, GA., on June 20, 1938, she came here from Moultrie, GA., in March of 1959. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Polk County School Board, and a member of First Baptist Church at the Mall. > Mrs. Radford was precede in death by her husband Aaron Radford. > She is survived by her sons Gary Radford and Betty Ann Walker, Ricky Radford and Lisa, all of Kathleen, grandsons Brian Radford, Jason Radford, both of Lakeland, granddaughter Brittany Radford, Lakeland, grandson Aaron Radford, Lakeland, granddaughters, Ashley Radford, Emily Radford, both of Lakeland; sisters Joanne Elrod, Elouise O'Neal, Louise Naquin, Frankie Dell, Carolyn Beason, all of Moultrie, GA; brother Johnny Griffin, Moultrie, GA; cousin Charles Radford and Claudia, Lakeland. LAKELAND - Mr. Aaron W. Radford died of pneumonia Tuesday (Feb. 24, 2009). Born in Moultrie, Ga., on Aug. 15, 1927, he came here from there in March, 1959. He was a farmer and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of First Baptist Church at the Mall. Mr. Radford never met a stranger and always remembered everyone he met. He loved to fish. > Mr. Radford is survived by his wife Shirley Radford, Lakeland; sons Rick Radford, Gary Radford, both of Lakeland; brother Vonnie Radford, Moultrie, GA.; sister Mae Tinsley, Columbus, GA.; cousin Charles Radford and his wife Claudia, Lakeland; grandsons Brian Radford, Jason Radford, Aaron Radford; granddaughters Brittany Radford, Ashley Radford, Emilie Radford; several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be Thursday at Lanier Funeral Home chapel. LAKELAND - William 'Bill' Russell Claridy, passed away November 15, 2017. He was born at home to Russell and Zinnie Claridy. LAKELAND - Robert D. Rex, Sr., passed away April 14, 2012 at LRMC due to respiratory failure. Robert was born September 7, 1929 in Bradford, PA, and moved to Lakeland in 1977 from Warren, PA. >He was preceded in death by son Jim Rex and grandson Jason Rex. > Robert served in the Navy and fought in WWII. He was a self employed truck driver, second generation, that has now spanned 4 generations. Robert assisted his sons in building their own homes. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. > Mr. Rex is survived by his wife of 60 years Louise Rex; 3 sons Robert D. Rex, Jr., Jack L. He was born in Warren, Pa., on Dec. 30, 1953, he came to Lakeland from Hicksville, Ohio, seven years ago. He was a fuel coordinator for Lakeland Electric. He was a Marine Corps veteran. > Mr. Rex is survived by his parents, Louise M. and Robert D. He had resided in Haywood County for the past 30 years. > He was the son of the late Harold Raymond and Mamie Coleman Fisher and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Mock and Barbara Ann Baggett. > Ken was former owner of Kencorp Insurance Sales operating throughout Western North Carolina. He was also former owner of the Garden Patch Grocery Store in Orange Park, Florida and a former produce buyer for Publix Markets in Lakeland, Florida. Ken was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Clyde. >Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ella Ethelyene Silver Fisher; 2 daughters, Brenda Yekey, of Augusta, South Carolina and Ashley White and her husband, Ben, of Pittsfield, Maine; a son, Dr. Richard K. ORLANDO -- Mr. Kenneth Levi Brosie of Orlando, a native of Kathleen, died of lung failure Sunday (Nov. 14, 2004) at home. He was born in Kathleen on Oct. 9, 1917, he moved to Orlando from Lakeland in 1968. He was an administrator. He held a Pilgrim Degree in the Moose, and served as past state president and deputy supreme governor. He was also instrumental in constructing the Moose building in Orlando. LAKELAND - Terry A. Letchworth  passed away April 21, 2017. Terry was born February 26, 1952 in Kathleen Florida  to Elmer and Reba Letchworth. He was a proud Kathleen High School graduate of 1970 and was a starting pitcher for most of his high school career. While in high school Terry met his future wife of 45 years Jewel. Terry retired from Publix. Polly passed, on Sept. 16, 2016, from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior whom she loved, trusted, and followed. After courageously fighting a 25 year battle with Parkinson's Disease, she is no longer enslaved in her earthly frail body but enjoying a perfect one! Polly was born in Hebron, MS and lived most of her life in Tampa. Polly loved hard, laughed loud, and prayed constantly. Polly served the Lord in all she did through singing, teaching Sunday School, and in her careers of the many years as F & I Manager with the Ferman family dealerships and later in real estate. > Polly is survived by her two sons, Greg (Shelly) and Grant (Mary) Bowlus; and her nine loving grandchildren, Felicia, Micah, Christian, Meredith, Madisyn, Clayton, and Corey Mauller, and Jasmine and Kylie Acevedo. Ronald was born in New Orleans, LA went home to be with the Lord May 6, 2016 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Living most of his life in Tampa, Ron served the Lord in all aspects of music ministry, singing with London Parris and the Apostles, serving numerous local churches, music evangelism around the country, and ministering in nursing homes throughout the state. > Ron is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Polly Bowlus ; two sons, Greg (Shelly) and Grant (Mary) Bowlus, and nine loving grandchildren, Felicia, Micah, Christian, Meredith, Madisyn, Clayton and Corey Mauller, and Jasmine and Kylie Acevedo. LAKELAND - Mr. Robert E. King of Lakeland, went home to his Lord on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. He was born in New Haven, CT , but came to Florida as a young child.  > He proudly served his country in the US Navy from June 1965 to June 1969. Robert worked for AT&T Communications for 20 years and then was employed by the City of Lakeland for 11 years. He retired in 2002 to pursue his love of cattle ranching. Robert loved his God, his country, his family and his church. LAKELAND - Hazel Patricia Dees Lakeland, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven December 2nd, 2018. Hazel 'H' was born June 25th, 1938 in Lakeland. She married her husband, Arthur Mae Dees, two daughters, Susan Patricia and Jennifer Diane, and lived in many cities August 14th, 1953. They had and countries while Arthur was in the United States Air Force before settling back in Lakeland.  >She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Mae Dees. >She is survived by her brother James Slappey (Shirley) and sister Vivian Roberts (Barry), two daughters, Susan Shirah (Ricky) and Jennifer Lipham (Avery). Her six grandchildren Melanie Macklin (Jason), Joshua Lip-ham (Mandy), Christie Shenefield (Jeff), Jacob Shirah (Amanda), Jeremy Shirah and Jessica Schwartz (Andrew). Also, her seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Dylan, Jonathan, Carlie, Elliott, Casen, Macie and Kennedy. LAKELAND - Arthur M. Dees, Jr., of Lakeland passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at his home after a brave battle with leukemia. > Mr. Dees was born in Arcadia, FL to his late parents, Arthur and Ruby Dees. After 20 years of dedicated service in the United States Air Force, he retired and settled with his family in Lakeland in 1969. He was then employed by Publix for 20 years, and retired as their Fleet Safety Inspector in 1998. > Anyone close to Art knew he loved the outdoors. He was always planning his next hunting/camping trip, and enjoyed taking road trips in their RV. He was also very active in Masonic Lodge #338 of Kathleen, FL, and was a member of the Camp Misery Hunting Club. > Art was the leader of his family. He was the beloved Loving brother to his husband of Hazel Dees. sister Johnnie Mae Rogers, brothers Jimmy Dees and Ormond Dees,> and preceded in death by his brother Robert Dees and sister Polly McIntyre. >He was the devoted father of his daughters Susan Shirah and husband Ricky, and Jennifer Lipham and husband Avery. LAKELAND - Mr. Charles 'Mike' Crawford passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Lakeland and has been a lifelong resident of the area. Charles was a heavy equipment operator for Polk County for 38 years. He also enjoyed farming for many years. Charles was of Baptist faith. LAKELAND - Officer Neil B. Kessler passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019.  > He was born in Lakeland, FL and has been a lifetime resident. Neil worked as a traffic homicide investigator for the Lakeland Police Department. He loved being an officer and worked for the Department from June 20, 1977 to March 31, 1995. BONIFAY - Faye Fortner Melton of Bonifay, FL, passed away at her home Thursday, April 27, 2017. Born October 23, 1930 in Lakeland, FL she moved to Bonifay 36 years ago from Auburndale. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. >  Faye is survived by: her husband of 68 1/2 years, Walter Leon Melton; two daughters, Kathryn Melton (Drew) Rogge of Petaluma, CA and Leonda Melton Narramore of Winter Haven, FL; four grandchildren, Anne Louise (Tony) Wilson, Matthew Douglas (Monica) Rogge, Marina Faye (Matthew) Standland and Carey Melton (Alyssa) Bussell; and two great-grandchildren, Michelle Anne Wilson and Graham Kennedy Bussell. John Henry "Johnny" Walker passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 of complications from kidney failure. He was born on April 22, 1922 in Adel, Georgia and (moved to Lakeland where he married his wife of over 59 years, Norma.) He was a retired General Superintendent with Ellis Construction of Tampa. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In years past, he managed and coached little league and pony league baseball, which he dearly loved. He was a big Atlanta Braves fan. Until his illness, he was an avid deer hunter with his family and friends. He will be remembered by all for his honesty, integrity and hard work providing for his family. > He is survived by his wife Norma Walker, son, Gary Walker and wife, Beverly of Lakeland, daughter, Linda Whiddon and husband, Danny of Gainesville, sister, Melba McAdams of Jacksonville, sister-in-laws, Verna Roberts and Hilda Ritter of Lakeland, Valeria Walker of Moultrie, Georgia, 3 step-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. LAKELAND - Norma R. Walker of Lakeland, passed away June 3, 2014, due to heart failure. Born in Punta Gorda, FL., she was raised in Lakeland and spent her life here. She worked for the Kathleen Elementary School as an executive secretary for 31 years, and served several principals before retiring in 1989. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years and Gibsonia Baptist Church for a short time. She loved spending time caring for her family, and going on hunting trips with her husband in Ocala National Forest. > She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2007, and her sister Hilda Ritter, and > is survived by her daughter Linda Whiddon and her husband Danny, a son Gary Walker and his wife Beverly; a sister Verna Roberts; her Yorkie, Trixie; three grandchildren, Trey Whiddon, Kristi Holmes and Mara Heath; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Bethel Baptist Church, with the visitation from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. Friends are invited to a luncheon at 11:00 am prior to the visitation. LAKELAND - George Edwin Walls left this earth for his new home in heaven, April 27, 2019. He was born March 5, 1937 in Orlando, FL to parents, Johnnie & Elmie Watanen Walls. > George is survived by his wife, Rosemary (aka Rose) Anderson; children, Jeffrey & Jennifer (Todd Hein); grandchildren, Taylor & Troy Hein; sister, Helen Tolley; brothers, Robert Sr., & Bill (Sheila,). George was preceded in death by his parents & brothers, Thomas (aka Tom), & James (aka Jim). George & Rose celebrated their Anniversary of 60 years, June 27, 2018. He dedicated 50 years of work to Central Glass Co. His pastimes were cattle, farming, fishing, hunting, birding, & honey bees. George was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He loved his God, country, family, & church. He taught Sunday School & Training Union classes. If a boy did not own a Bible, George would give him one. The family will receive friends May 7, 2019 in the Bethel Sanctuary, 10AM. Service at 11AM with burial in the Socrum Cemetery.
