LAKELAND - Mr. Clayton Paul Sherrouse, age 83, died of Alzheimer's Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2011). Born in Polk County on July 29, 1928, he was a lifelong resident. He was a water crew foreman in the Lakeland Electric and Water industry, retiring in 1987 after 30 years of service. He served in the National Guard for 11 years, and was a member of Cleveland Heights Baptist Church.
 Mr. Sherrouse is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret M. Sherrouse, Lakeland, sons Steve L. Sherrouse, Lakeland, Pastor Paul (Peggy) Sherrouse, Ft. Smith, AR, grandson Steven Sherrouse, Grantsboro, N.C, granddaughter Alicia J. Goodwin, Lakeland, grandson Rev. Matthew Sherrouse, Brazil, SA, granddaughter Holly L. (Ben) Bradt, Ft. Smith, AR, grandsons Joshua D. Sherrouse, Pensacola, Daniel T. Sherrouse, John Paul Sherrouse, both of Ft. Smith, AR, 6 great grandchildren.

>CLAUDE SHERROUSE,Sr. - 79 - Heavy Equipment Operator
Claude Sherrouse Sr.- 79 of Bonifay, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at the Bonifay Nursing and Rehab facility. Claude was born May 7, 1933 in Polk County, to Lemuel and Allie Sherrouse. He worked as a heavy equipment operator after serving in the United States Army, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland.
 He is survived by his loving wife, Billie Jo Sherrouse of Bonifay; son, Calvin Sherrouse Jr. (Marsha) of Bonifay; two daughters, Carla Parrish (Everette) of Polk City, Caye Tilton of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
 Services were held, Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland, with visitation one-hour prior. The Rev. Jason Grime officiated, with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, directing.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Earl Walter Sherrouse of Lakeland died of cancer Saturday (June 26, 2004) at his home. He was 81. Born June 23, 1923, he was a lifelong resident of Lakeland. He was a rancher and cattleman. He worked for Lakeland Packing Co. for 25 years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
 Mr. Sherrouse is survived by his wife, Martha Sherrouse; daughter, Kathy Watkins, Lakeland; brother, Dalton Sherrouse, Lakeland; sisters, Shirley Wyatt, Geneva Wyatt and Oleta Bryant, all of Lakeland; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
 Visitation will be Tuesday at Lanier Funeral Home, Lakeland. Services will be held  Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church, Lakeland.

KATHLEEN -- Mrs. Edith E. Sherrouse of Kathleen died Tuesday (June 14, 2005) of congestive heart failure at Tandem Health Care at Lake Parker. She was 79. Born on May 26, 1926, in Lakeland, she was a lifelong resident. She was a citrus packer for Lakeland Packing House for more than 30 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
 Mrs. Sherrouse was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Sherrouse.
 She is survived by her sons; Jimmy Sherrouse, Kathleen, Larry H. Sherrouse, Wayne "Chip" Sherrouse, both of Lakeland; daughter, Darlene McNey, Lakeland; sister, Vera Huffstutler, Dade City; brother, Charles Tillman, Wauchula; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Hollis M. "Pappy" Sherrouse of Lakeland died of congestive heart failure Monday (July 19, 2004) at home. He was 88. Born in Socrum on June 20, 1916, he came to Lakeland at a young age. He was a welder for Lakeland Electric. He was a Baptist.
 Mr. Sherrouse is survived by his wife, Martha Sherrouse; son, Charles "Bunk" Sherrouse, Lakeland; daughter, Carrie Norton, Lakeland; brother, Clayton Sherrouse, Lakeland; sister, Nina Grigsby, Lakeland; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

LAKELAND - Martha Roberts Sherrouse, 87, born on Thursday, October 30, 1924, entered into Heaven Tuesday, July 24, 2012 of COPD.
 Mrs. Sherrouse was a lifelong resident of Polk County living in North Lakeland her entire life. She was employed for 16 years with the Lakeland Packing Company. She was a loving "Mom" who loved her family more than herself, and was a 65 year member of Bethel Baptist Church in North Lakeland.
 She was preceded into heaven by her husband Earl Sherrouse, a son Irvin Sherrouse Sr. and grandson Irvin Jr.
 Surviving are her daughter Kathy Watkins and husband Lee, daughter in law Ann Sherrouse, grandchildren Amy Skaggs (Shawn), Steven Watkins, Tonya Stricklin (Bill), David Bayhan (Carrie), and great grandchildren Kalee, Trevor, Elleri, Ben and Stephanie, and many nieces and nephews in the Roberts and Sherrouse families.
 Visitation will be on Monday, July 30, 2012 ,with service to follow  at Bethel Baptist Church, 3125 West Socrum Loop Rd., Lakeland, FL, 33810, with burial in Socrum Cemetery.

Lakeland- Mrs. Bonita Sherrouse Booth, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from complications of Alzheimer's. Born in Lakeland on April 25, 1925 she was a lifelong resident. She was a Lunchroom Lady for the Public Schools and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. > She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Booth.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Joe) Weinhold of Lakeland; sons, Larry (Wanda) Booth and Gary (Michelle) Booth both of Lakeland; brother, Claude Sherrouse of Bonifay, FL; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren
>NINA SHERROUSE GRIGSBY – 85 - Kathleen Sr. High School
PLANT CITY - Mrs. Nina Sherrouse Grigsby, died of heart failure Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2007). Born in Socrum, Florida on January 11, 1921, she was a lifelong resident of the Kathleen and Lakeland area. She retired as the cafeteria manager from Kathleen Senior High School in 1987, after 25 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. Nina loved her job working with the students at Kathleen Sr. High School. She was a great cook, and the teachers can tell you about her cinnamon buns. She followed sporting events including football, baseball, and often assisted Coach Jay Hickman in Cross country track events. She could be heard cheering her beloved Red Devils and ringing her cow bell at football games. She loved the Detroit Tigers and attended spring training games for many years. She enjoyed crafts such as crochet, needle point, and was an excellent seamstress. She loved all animals and often fed the birds and squirrels.
 She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Sherrouse; mother, Mildred Sherrouse; brother, Hollis Marion Sherrouse.
 She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Bryan, Carolyn Ritter, both of Lakeland; sons, William Richard Grigsby, James Robert Grigsby, both of Lakeland; brother, Clayton Paul Sherrouse, Lakeland; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Lanier Funeral Home chapel. Services will follow at 7 p.m. at Lanier Funeral Home. LAKELAND - Mrs. Genevieve Sherrouse Wyatt, died of Alzheimer's disease Monday (March 12, 2007). Born September 29, 1919, in Lakeland, Genevieve was a lifelong resident of Lakeland and a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
 Mrs. Wyatt was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ollie Sherrouse; and husband, Clyde L. Wyatt.
 She is survived by her daughters, Janet Perrone Cromas, Florence Perrone Bond, both of Lakeland; granddaughter, Debbie Cash, Lakeland; great- grandson, Ryan Cash, Lakeland; great- granddaughter, Taylor Cash, Lakeland; sister, Shirley Sherrouse Wyatt, Lakeland; numerous nieces and nephews.  LAKELAND - Mrs. Carolyn Norma Sherrouse passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at her home due to complications of cancer. She was born April 18, 1930 in Iva, South Carolina to Max and Frances (Wiles) Cash. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland.
 Mrs. Sherrouse was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Sherrouse and her brother, Max Leon Cash, Jr.
 Survivors include her son, Lemuel Sherrouse, Jr (Kathy); daughters, Lee Ashley (Mark) and Lynn Smailes (Michael); 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. LAKELAND - Ronald 'Chip' Sherrouse, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, passed away at home, peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. Chip had attended Kathleen High School, where he was an active member of FFA. Following high school, he began working for Yogurt Masters for many years, then he moved to Lykes Bros. where he worked as a foreman for 18 years, and then for Publix where he ran the blow mold machine that made milk cartons. He retired from there in 2009 after 23 years. He was a 25 years member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he volunteered to oversee the grounds at Socrum Cemetery, and was a member of the Lakeland Lions Club.
 Chip is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara; three daughters, Teresa Renaud and husband Adam, Christy Jayne and husband Steven, and Heather Norris and husband Ronnie; a sister Darlene McNey; two brothers, Jimmy and wife Joan, and Larry; and six grandchildren: Caleb Brown, Brandon (Tyler) Brown, Alyssa Renaud, Courtney Jayne, Gabby Jayne and Logan Norris.> He was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Waid. Friends are invited to attend the visitation to be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, at Bethel Baptist Church. Services will begin at 12:00. Burial is to follow at Socrum Cemetery.
