LAKELAND - Leroy Taylor died Thursday, December 13, 2007 due to septicemia. Leroy moved to Lakeland from Adel, GA in 1948. He retired from the WR Grace Phosphate Co. as a supervisor after 40 plus years of service and was a member of the Kings Tale Worship Center. A loving father and grandfather he will be missed. >He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. Taylor. >He is survived by son, Richard Taylor of Lakeland, FL; daughters, Judy Tolley of Lakeland, FL, Teresa Deal of Lakeland, FL, Cathy Davis of Lakeland, FL; brother,  Needom R. Taylor of Winter Haven, FL; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lanier Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Assembly of God. Internment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

LAKELAND - Billy R. Thornton, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was raised in Lakeland, traveled the world with the Army for 24 years and lived most of his life in Texas. Recently he had lived in Lakeland near family, until moving to Yorktown, VA to be with his son. >He was widowed three times and preceded in death by Elisabeth Hey, of Schweinfurt Germany; Olivia Smith of Muscle Shoals, AL and Bertha Lee Stewart, of El Paso, TX, all whom he loved. >He is survived by his only son Richard B. Thornton and wife Susie Thornton of Yorktown, VA, step-daughter Brigitte Straub Schweinfurt, Germany, step-daughter Dianne Kelly, El Paso, TX and his 3 delightful sisters JoAnn Morris of Lakeland, FL, Betty Goheen of Lakeland, FL, Margie Jones of South Carolina; his 4 grandchildren William R. Thornton of San Antonio, TX, Brigetta Thornton of Yorktown, VA, Adam Kelly of El Paso TX, and Michelle Kelly of Orlando, FL. He joined the Army during WW II fighting in Italy and France with the 3rd Division 'Rock of the Marne' and prisoner of war at the age of 18. He was an avid fisherman and gardener with his wife Bertha. He loved music/memories of his family singing in a traveling Gospel Choir in Lakeland area. In Lakeland he attended Mt. Tabor Baptist Church enjoying services and supporting church missions. In Yorktown, 'Cowboy Bill' was a popular presence at Crossroads Community Church. We are thankful to God for the many years we had Billy, a loyal husband, a faithful Dad, loving brother, and gentle Grandfather. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21st  at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL . In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Missions Fund, 3504 Mt. Tabor Road, Lakeland, FL 33810.

> JIMMY F. WEST - 71 -        b/o - Drothy Paul
ASTOR - Jimmy F. West of Astor, FL, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. A native of Plant City, FL, he was born and raised in Antioch, graduated from Plant City High School, served four years in our United States Navy, worked as a superintendent in the construction industry, and was a member of the Episcopalian faith. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and fishing. >Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ola West; brother, Roy Gene West; and brothers-in-law, George Mount, Buddy Paul, Evan Dykes, and Melvin McLellan. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Brian (Jennifer) West and David (Erin) West, Russell (Terri) Boyens and Matt (April) Boyens and daughter, Laura Boyens; sisters, Pauline Mount, Janette (Joel) Walden, Dorothy Paul, Betty (W. J.) Miley, Maxcine (William) Weaver, Irene Dykes, and Barbara McLellan; brother, Roscoe West; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, at Fellowship Church Assembly of God, 4405 N. Galloway Road, Lakeland, FL 33810. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Florida Hospital Hospice, 770 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL. - Ledger, March 14, 2017-
