LAKELAND -- Mr. Harry F. Ballard of Lakeland died of leukemia Wednesday (June 11, 2003) at South Florida Baptist Hospital. He was born in Lakeland on July 12, 1924, he was a lifelong resident. He was a mechanic, retiring from Carpenters Home Groves. He was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.> Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his wife, Eva A. Ballard.  >He is survived by his daughter, Harriett Ballard, Lakeland; sister, Marie Caudill, Lakeland. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lanier Funeral Home, 717 W. LAKELAND - Maxie Wayne Benton passed away on October 31, 2009 due to respiratory failure. He was born on May 10, 1939 in Perry, FL and was a Lakeland resident since 1942. Mr. Benton worked as a production supervisor for CF Industries in Plant City. He was an Air Force and National Guard Veteran from 1956-1967. Mr. Benton attended the Highland Park Church of the Nazarene. He loved the outdoors and was a simple man. He had a great personality and was always the life of the party. Mr. Benton was a great father, grandfather and songwriter, loved sports and was a Florida Gators fan, little league coach, guitar player and enjoyed family time.> He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley & Ella Benton and his sister, Connie Hollingsworth. >He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary E. Benton of Lakeland, his sons, Keith (Wendy) Benton, Mark (Maria) Benton and Nick Benton all of Lakeland, FL; his brothers, Richard Leon Benton, Willard Russell "Doug" Benton both of Lakeland and Steve Roland Benton of Ashland city, TN; and nine grandchildren, Jordan, Kristin, Courtney, Karley, Taylor, Carter, Andy, Victoria, and Michael. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S. LAKELAND -- Mr. Harry Cave of Lakeland died of natural causes associated with old age Monday (Dec. 19, 2005) at Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Daytona Beach on Feb. 17, 1908, he came to Lakeland from Shumaker, N.M., in 1955. He was a maintenance mechanic for W.R. Grace. He was a member of W.R. Grace's Gun and Rod Fishing Club. He was a member of Griffin Baptist Church. >Mr. Cave was preceded in death by his wife, Corina Cave. >He is survived by his daughters, Mary Bartos, Virginia Bennett, Beatrice Wilkerson, all of Lakeland; son, Tommy Cave, Lakeland; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. He was a foreman for Williams Fence Co. >Mr. Crews is survived by his sons, Theodore T.J. LAKELAND - Mr. Charles L. Reynolds passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 due to complications from cancer. He was born in Lakeland, FL and has been a lifelong resident of the area. Charles was a truck driver for the Union Camp Company in Lakeland. After retirement, he enjoyed assisting in the care of Mt. Tabor Cemetery and considered it a privilege to serve the community. Charles was also an avid sports fan. >He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Charles Phillip and Michael Lee Reynolds.> Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nina M. Reynolds of Lakeland, son, Joseph E. Reynolds of Upland, CA, daughters, Connie (Daniel) Renfro of Lakeland, TN, Sue (Phillip) Tarte of Lakeland, FL, brother, Lavon Reynolds of Lakeland, FL, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many loving nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends Sat. at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, Northside Chapel, 5245 US Hwy 98 N. LAKELAND - Mrs. Catherine J. Robinson passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020. She was born in Sandusky, OH to Charles and Evelyn Woodring. Catherine moved to Lakeland from Sandusky, OH 60 years ago. She retired from the Polk County School Board as a Bus Driver after many years. Catherine loved her children, grandchildren and spending time with family. >She is survived by her husband, Keith Robinson; mother, Evelyn Woodring; children, Gary (Theresa) Hunt, Misty (Lee) Davis, Evelyn (Chris) Large; brothers, Chuck (Judy) Woodring, Steve (Cindy) Woodring; sister, Joan Stidham; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. LAKELAND - Ila Mae Summers of Lakeland, FL died Dec 8, 2007, of septicemia. She was born July 30, 1919 in Lauderdale County, AL. Mrs. Summers moved to the Lakeland area from Alabama in 1955. She worked making bombs at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL during WWII. She was also a citrus worker and a crossing guard for Polk County Sherriff for 17 years. She was the daughter of the late Dan and Lonnie (Haygood) Williams & the mother of the late Charles Siniard. >She is survived by her sons, Jerry Siniard & Andy Siniard, both of Lakeland; daughters, Evaline Vickers, Plant City, Aubrey Kriner of Kathleen and Linda Harris of Winter Haven, FL., 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grand children & 8 great-great grandchildren. Visitation is Wed, 12/12/07 at 1:00pm at Winston Baptist Church, 3233 Old Tampa Hwy, Lakeland, Fl. Tabor Baptist Church. >She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Sumner, Sr.; sister Lorraine Brown. >She is survived by her son Robert and Sandra Sumner, Jr., Lakeland; daughter Gayle Sumner, Lakeland; sisters Marjorie Butler, Doris Poston, Joann Mangus, all of Lakeland; granddaughters Angela of Lucedale, MS, Jennifer of Sylva, N.C., Stephanie of Lakeland; 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at First Baptist Church at the Mall.
