BARTOW -- Mr. Antonio O. Aguirre of Bartow died of heart failure Monday (Aug. 28, 2006) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Michoacan, Mexico, on April 19, 1946, he came to Bartow from Texas 33 years ago. He was a service truck driver for McDonald Construction. He was a member of Cento Guadalupano Catholic Church.Mr. Aguirre is survived by his wife, Bertha Aguirre; son, Victor M. Aguirre, Fort Meade; daughter, Elizabeth Rico, Apopka; father, Soledad Aguirre, Bartow; sisters, Antonia Bravo, Leonarda Cuevas, Lidia Cordova, all of Bartow, Teodora Lopez, Mexico City, Elia Estrada, Plant City; brothers, Isabel, Isaias and Alfonso Aguirre, all of Bartow; four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St., Bartow. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Homeland Cemetery. – Ledger, Aug. 29, 2006
HOMELAND -- Mrs. Eathel Aycock of Homeland died of respiratory failure Thursday (July 31, 2003) at Tandem Health Care, Winter Haven. She was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Coffee County, Ala., she was a long-time resident of Homeland. She was a retired caregiver. She attended Homeland First Baptist Church.Mrs. Aycock is survived by her husband, Alcus Aycock; son, Wayne Bridges, Houston, Texas; stepdaughter, Glenda Langdon, Winter Haven; brother, Talmidge Brooks, Enterprise, Ala.; sisters, Cleoia Glass, Kinston, Ala., Neatha Riser, Antica, Calif.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Services will be sy 11 a.m. Monday at Homeland First Baptist Church. Fannie M. 'Myrles' Baker, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Rohr Nursing Home in Bartow. Born June 22, 1918, in Geneva, AL, Mrs. Baker was a resident of Homeland since 1953, moving from Alabama, She was a citrus sectionizer with Ben Hill Griffin Packing Plant in Bartow for over twenty five years. She attended the Homeland Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Malcom E. Baker. Mrs. Baker is survived by her son, Gerald E. Baker ( Sharon) of Bartow; brother, Alcus E. Aycock of Winter Haven; three grandchildren, Michael Baker ( Wendi) of Alturas, Steven Baker ( Erin) and Shari Wolfe (Jason), both of Bartow; and eight great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 2015, at 2PM at Homeland Cemetery.
