Fair, a longtime Lakeland
resident, entered the arms of
Jesus,
Wed., March 31, 2010 in Auburndale, FL at the George Forsythe Hospice
Home of heart failure. She was born
August 27, 1922 in
High Springs, FL and was the
fourth daughter of William
and Emma Forsythe. Rubye was a
wonderful Christian role model for
her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and left a legacy
that all of her family will follow.
She was a
member of
Medulla Baptist Church for 61 years,
serving as Church Secretary,
Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher and V.B.S. worker. Rubye also
worked as a Brownie, Girl Scout Leader, P.T.A. President, avid gardner,
seamstress, quilt maker, and had her own Doll Hospital, where she
repaired dolls. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved cooking.
Rubye was
preceded in
death by her parents, ( 2 ) -
husbands, Fred G. Spencer and Ernest
Fair; sisters, Willie Mae
Townsend, Annie Lee Cone and Evelyn
Hancock; stepson, Clark Lambert and stepdaughter, Ann Fair.
She is
survived by her
daughters, Sylvia Spencer, Bartow, FL, Linda Stephens and husband
Royce, Auburndale, FL, Ina Thompson and husband Dan, Lakeland, FL;
stepdaughter, Jolene Murkerson and husband Floyd, Lakeland, FL; and
stepsons, Robert Lambert and wife, Mary, Niceville, FL and Larry Fair,
Lakeland, FL; stepdaughter in law, Leslie Griffin of Virginia; sister,
Allene Morgan, Plant City, FL.; sixteen grandchildren and spouses, Mike
and Lori Chancey, Rob and Laura Chancey, Cheri Chancey, Alison and
Brett Keenan, Paul and Miriam Stephens, Rev. Monte and April Baker
missionaries in Hungary, Rachel and Jeff Beeman, Rev. Matt and Kim
Grieves, Daniel Thompson; fourteen step-grandchildren and spouses,
Denny and Alicia Hickman, Lynne and William Vonn, David and Cori
Hickman, Kent and Tara Hickman, Pam and Ryan Zarfoss, Rob Lambert, Jr.,
Clark Lambert, Jr., Greg and Giner Hutchinson; twenty-two great
grandchildren Morgan and Jake Little, Jordan Chancey, Madison Chancey,
Julia Chancey, Kayton Chancey, Katie Chrisitansen, Adam Grant, Emily
Grant, Jack Chancey, Zack Briggs, Jacob Briggs, Ansley Keenan, Aaron
Stephens, Noah Stephens, Misha Stephens, Joshua Baker, Elizabeth Baker,
Olivia Baker, Stephen Baker, Caleb Grieves, Timothy Grieves; and
fourteen step great grandchildren, Michael Hutchingson Brittney
Hutchinson, Baby Hutchinson, Megan Vonn, Courtney Vonn, Summer Hickman,
Jacob Hickman, Kent Hickman, Jr., Paul Zarfoss, Mark Zarfoss, Ben
Zarfoss, Mary Zarfoss, Spencer Lambert, Jack Lambert.
Rubye is also
survived by
her loving feline companions, Sara Lee and Charlotte.
Visitation
will be Mon.,
April 5, 2010 at Medulla Baptist Church, Lakeland, FL with funeral
services following at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow
in Fitzgerald
Cemetery, Lakeland. The family
wishes to thank Spring Lake Nursing
Home and George Forsythe Hospice Home for their compassionate and
