LAKELAND - Eva Cecilia Hoge Donnan, 101 passed away May 21, 2012, from natural causes.
Mrs. Donnan was the third child of James and Theresa Bohnert Hoge and was born in Charleston, WV. She moved with her parents and eight siblings to Lakeland in 1923.
 She graduated from Lakeland High School in 1928.
 Mrs. Donnan opened her own s
tore, North Street Sundries, in May, 1935. The same month she married Harry J. Donnan of Lakeland, a World War I battle decorated veteran. Jointly they operated the pharmacy, and in 1941 began a second venture (a concrete block plant).
 Mr. Donnan died in March of 1946. I
n 1952 Eva transformed the block plant into a ceramic tile company. The Florida Tile Company went on to become one of the largest ceramic tile producers in the U.S. However, due to initial start-up problems, Eva sold the company in 1954. She continued to manage Donnan's on Memorial Blvd. for 63 years and closed the store in 1997.
 Her 100th birthday was celebrated on Nov. 4, 2010 with an article being published about her in The Ledger.

 She is survived by her siblings, Reverend James C. Hoge of St. Leo Abbey and Sarah L. Nociti of Port St. John, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
 Visitation will be Tues., May 29, 2012  at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wed., May 30, 2012  at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 210 W. Lemon St., Lakeland, FL 33815.

DONNAN, HARRY JAMES - 49 -  Donnan's Concrete Products
 Harry James Donnan, owner of Donnan Concrete Products Company, died suddenly this morning at his home, 608 Prospest Street. He was 49. Mr. Donnan came here 14 years ago from Ashville, N. C.
 Mr. Donnan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Hoge Donnan; his mother, Mrs. George W. Donnan of Ashville; a brother Frank W. Donnan of St. Petersburg, Fl.; and 2 sisters,  Mrs. Georgia Donnan WILSON, of Ashville and Mrs. Sam HUDDLESTON of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
 Mr. Donnan was a vetran of WWI, in which he served as a first Lieutenant in the Rainbow Division. He was a member of the American Legion and of Mount Herman Masonic Lodge in Ashville.
