Margaret was born December 20, 1923 in Lake Wales, Florida to Emory and Oveida (Collier) Stokes. She was a Homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales, she was The First President of Lake Wales VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Lake Wales Girl Scout Leader, member of Daughters of the Confederacy, and she was involved with First Baptist Training Union, First Baptist Golden Heirs, and Young Girls Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Herb Clemons on, Oct. 10, 1985. Survivors include Daughters, Carol VALENTINE of Lake Wales, Jeanette NELSON (Vic) of Auburndale, Fl.; Sons, Rick CLEMONS ( Christine) of Sebastian, Fl, Randy CLEMONS (Shelley) of Lake Wales and David CLEMONS ( Cathy) of Lake Wales, Fl.; 14 Grandchildren and 11 great Grandchildren. Lake Wales - George W. Mimbs Sr., aged 87, of Rt. 1, Box 186 B, Lake Wales, died Friday morning in Clewiston after a brief illness. A native of Bartow he came to Lake Wales at an early age. He was a retired farmer and wasa member of Central Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Viola NORTON of Pompano Beach, Mrs. Olave PLATT, Moore Haven; three sons, George W. MIMBS Jr. and George E. MIMBS of Lake Wales, and Charles L. MIMBS of Lake City; one brother, Zeby C. MIMBS of Lake Wales, and one sister, Mrs. Lou WILLIAMS of Bradenton; 36 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Central Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Johnson, a former pastor here, officiating. Interment was in the Lake Wales Cemetery. Collier, 58,
For the past 35
years, Robert was a resident of this section, he died suddenly Tuesday
morning about 8 o'clock at his home at West Lake Wales, with a hear
attack.
Mr.
Collier had been in poor health the past year, but had recently felt
much improved and his death came as a shock to his family and friends.
Mr. Collier was born in DeSoto county in December 1874 and came to Polk
in 1898.
He leaves a wife
and six children, Mrs. M.F. Futch, L.W. Collier, F.S. Collier, Mrs.
D.W. Bailey, Gertrude Collier, Lake Wales and A.B. Collier, Lake Wales,
Mrs. Viola McCullough, Jacksonville. The deceased won many
friends on account of his honest and integrity, and was liked by all
because of his jovial manner.
Funeral services
in charge of Draper Funeral Home were held Wednesday morning at 11

ALTON COLLIER - 59 - Lakeland- Robert "Buster" Alton Collier passed away, May 29, 2012, at Lakeland Reginal Medical Center. Buster was born, Dec. 28, 1952 in Lakeland and was a life resident of the area. He was a member of Cleveland Heights Baptist Church and was a radio announcer. Buster as he was called, was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Roberta COLLIER and his sister Marie Huntsinger. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Sue Collier/PAYNE of Lakeland, Jeanette Collier PAYNE, of Dover, Merry Lee COSGROVE of Bartow and Tricia Ann Collier/DUNN of Lakeland. Joel H. Whidden, 48, of
Lake Placid, Fla. died unexpectedly Saturday, February 9, 2008 in the
Winter Haven Hospital. Joe was a native Floridian, born to Ms.
Abbie
Mae (Williams) and Vance Whidden on February 22, 1959 in
Clewiston,
Fla. Joel was employed by Everglades Equipment Co. in Okeechobee as a
service technician for the past five years. Prior to that he worked for
U.S. Sugar. Joel was an accomplished musician and was part of a band.
He and his wife came to Lake Placid eleven years ago from Clewiston.
Joel was a Baptist in his faith.
Joel is survived by
his loving wife, Sandy (Beam) who he married May 23, 1992 in Clewiston;
mother, Abbie Mae Whidden of Moore Haven and children: Clint of
Tallahassee, Tyler of Ocala, Fla., Devon of Lake Placid, Amanda Kent of
Lake Placid and Cpl. Dana Kent of North Carolina; siblings, Evelyn
(Howard) Barker of Houma, La., Sharon Flowers of Ft. Myers, Kathy
(Michael) Miller of Belle Glade, and Paul (Kathy) Whidden of Lake
Placid along with many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive
friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the
Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Funeral
services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the
Eastside Christian Church in Lake Placid with the Rev. Robert Carroll
officiating.
Burial will follow

Sebring,
Fla.,James died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at his residence. He was
born in Punta Rassa, Fla., to Henry Everett and Daisy Belle Whidden,
January 29, 1934. He was a retired fighter pilot for the U.S. Air Force
in April 1974. Frank taught at Sebring High School from January 1975 to
January 1995. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sebring and a
member of Friendship Keeper Sunday School Class. Frank enjoyed sailing,
golfing and fishing with his family and friends.
He is
survived by his wife, Shirley of Sebring; three sons, James F. Whidden
II and his wife, Diane of Melbourne, Fla., Richard S. Whidden and his
wife, Theresa of Sebring and Jerry T. Whidden and his wife, Sherri of
Avon Park, Fla.; brother, Eddie Ray Whidden of Anniston, Ala.; sister,
Helen Sternglanz of Grottos, Va.; five grand- children, Tania Stoner
and husband, Andy, Justin Whidden, Darren Whidden Paizley Whidden and
Brooks Whidden; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby Lee, Addison Kaye
and Andrew Jake Stoner.
A

She was very actively involved in the Adult Literacy Education program. She was a founding member of St. Paul's CatholiC Church, Arcadia, where she played the organ for many years. She was a member of St. Paul's Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marshall Tilden Whidden Sr. in 1971. She is survived by a son, Marshall Tilden (Hazel) Whidden Jr., Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Amelia Ann (Dan) Whisenhunt, Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Douglas Whidden, Sarasota, Fla., Joshua Whidden, Pensacola, Fla., Derek (Roxanne) Whisenhunt, Columbia, S.C., and Currie W. Bennie Mae Whidden, 74,
Arcadia, died June 17, 2002. She was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Lake
City and was a lifelong resident of Wauchula and Arcadia.
Before retiring, she was employed as a nurse's aide at G. Pierce Wood
Memorial Hospital. She volunteered with the Hope project for years and
was a Pentecostal.
Survivors include son
Rodney R. Morgan of Arcadia; sister Geneva Yomans of Wauchula; brother
Joe Williams of Wauchula; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be today
at Ponger-Kays- Grady Funeral Home in Arcadia. >Services will be at
