Esther Powers, 78 of Sanderson, a retired vocational nurse, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in Sanderson. Graveside services will be at 10a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Foster Cox officiating. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was the daughter of Elmore Ervin Whidden and Ella Josephine Haight.

She was born in Davenport, FL. She lived in Sanderson for 10 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors: Husband, Daniel William Powers of Sanderson; Son Rick D. Powers of Ontario, OR., brothers Clayton Whidden of Sanderson; Sisters Margaret Bow of Sanderson, Betty Marie Phillips of Selma, OR and Laura Mae Perry of Vancouver, WA.
