BARTOW - A. V. Coker, Sr., 89, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of respiratory failure.
 Born March 27, 1920 in Gardner, FL,  Mr. Coker was a lifelong resident of the area. Mr. Coker was a general field supervisor for Lake Garfield Citrus Co-op. & a citrus grower. He was a member of the Bartow First Baptist Church; Florida Citrus Mutual; National Rifle Association & an avid quail hunter and outdoorsman. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the Combat Engineers in the European and Pacific theaters.
 He is preceded in death by his wife Pauline & son Abner Coker Jr.
 He is survived by his daughter: Judy C. & husband Buddy McDonald; son: Robert C. "Bobby" & wife Mary Ruth Coker all of Tallahassee; daughter-in-law Pat Coker; brother, George C. "Cliff" Coker, both of Bartow; grandchildren: Jessica Justice, Paula & husband Evan Jones, Robert C. Coker, Jr. & wife Olivia, John Ashbell Coker, Patrick "A.V." Coker, Cathy & husband Randal Whitten, Chris & husband Mario Cabrera, Candi Greene & 9 great grandchildren.
 Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 7, at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, 410 E. Main St. Bartow. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow. - Ledger, April 7, 2009

BARTOW - Abner V. Coker, Jr., 68, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Palm Terrace Hospice of Lakeland of cancer.
 Born July 11, 1939 in Townes, GA, Mr. Coker was a lifelong resident of Bartow. He was an engineer with Florida DOT for 14 yrs & retired from Polk County Engineering after 26 yrs. He was presently with Keith & Schnars Engineering of Lakeland. He was Chairman of Board of Deacons & Sunday School Director & teacher at the First Baptist Church of Bartow. He was Past Master of Tuscan Lodge #6 F&AM, Bartow. He served with the Florida National Guard. He was a graduate of Summerlin Institute, Class of 1957.
 He was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Coker.
 He is survived by his wife: Pat Coker; daughters: Cathy & husband Dr. Randal Whitten of Granbury, TX, Chris & husband Mario Cabrera of Lakeland, Candi Greene of Bartow, Father A.V. Coker Sr. of Bartow; brother: Bobby Coker & sister Judy McDonald, both of Tallahassee; grandchildren: Geoffrey & Ryan Whitten, Sydney & Jacob Cabrera, Kathleen & Emalee Greene & several nieces & nephews.
 Family will receive friends Wed. June 25, 2008 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St. Bartow.
 Funeral services will be held Thurs, June 26,2008 at First Baptist Church, 410 E. Church St, Bartow.

Bartow - Mrs. Pauline L. Coker of Bartow died Wednesday, July 28, 1999 at Bartow  Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.
 Pauline was born in Towns, Ga. on Feb. 9, 1914, she came to Bartow in 1938. She was a member of the Bartow Garden Club and of the First Baptist Church.
 Pauline is survived by her husband, A.V. Coker, Sr. of Bartow, Fla., sons;, Abner Coker, Jr., of Bartow, Robert C. Coker of Bradenton; daughter, Judy McDonald of Tallahassee; sisters, Ruth Jones, Ann Taylor, Marion Nelson, all of Fernandina Beach; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
 Visitation was Friday, July 30, 1999 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home on 650 E. Main St., Bartow, Fla. Services on Saturday at First Baptist Church in Bartow. - Ledger, Friday,July 30, 1999.
