Mulberry- Elizabeth passed away May 25, 2011 at LRMC due to heart failure. Mrs. Jamie was born on November 18, 1921 in Mulberry, FL. Elizabeth was one of the children of the McLaulin Family which was a Mulberry Pioneer Family, and she was a lifetime resident of Mulberry. She was a Voter Registration Clerk, a member of 1st Baptist Church of Mulberry, a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #57, and a former member of the Mulberry Women's Club. >
She is preceded in death by husband, Don Jamie, and son, George Jamie.  > Elizabeth is survived by son, Bob Jamie (Peggy), granddaughter, Elizabeth Herring (Brian), great grandchildren, Abby & Ben, and 2 adopted grandchildren, Jerry & John.  Visitation will be held, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Seigler Funeral Home-Chapel, Hwy 60 E., Mulberry, FL. Gainesville-  Hugh died Monday, August 1, 2011 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after an extended  illness. He was born in Mulberry, Florida to the late Luther D. and Agnes Allen Moore  He had lived in Columbia County since 1945 having moved here from Dunedin, Florida.  He served our country faithfully with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He retired after 40 years of service with the Florida Highway Patrol Office. He was a deeply involved with the Florida Free & Accepted Masons for the past 56 years, holding offices with the Masons ( 33rd Degree), Scottish Rite, York Rite, & Morocco Temple Shriners. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  >
Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda Moore (Cyrees) Lott of Hawthorne, FL and Rhoda Jean Moore of Lake City, FL; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Tate officiating.   Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Mulberry- Mr.Fred Wilton "Pete" Croft, died Tuesday, March 27, 1990.  Mr. Croft was born in Medulla and came to Mulberry from Bartow 32 years ago. Mr. Croft was a washer supervisor with  W.R.Grace and an Air Force Veteran.  MULBERRY - Mr. James "Bo Gator" Glover, Jr. died of heart failure March 6, 2011 in Lakeland, FL. Born in Bullards, GA, on May 6, 1923, he came to Mulberry from there 86 years ago. Carl Cox passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. - He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline and Carl Cox, Sr. > He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Carla, and his son-in-law, David Knight, of Tampa; his sister, Madeline Buras, of Covington, Louisiana; and his four grandchildren, Margaret, Victoria, Thomas, and Julia Knight.
 His life was made brighter by the tender love and care of Mary, John, and Edith. He was They moved to Tampa where Carl worked as Budget Analyist for GTE until he retired. Papa's greatest love was his family, and they all loved him with all their hearts. This brilliant man could be seen walking in New Suburb Beautiful, playing tennis, reading a good Sherlock Holmes story, studying calculus, shooting at the gun range, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is dearly missed by his wife and family, but he lives in our hearts forever. Carl was a proud graduate of Florida Southern College born in Mulberry, Florida, on December 15, 1917, but soon moved to Lakeland, Florida, where he spent his youth and met his beloved wife, Margaret.where his own father was Dean of Students, and the family requests that any donations be made there in his name. Funeral services will take place  on Monday, April 25th,2011 at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church.

MULBERRY - Jimmie E. O'Neal, Sr. passed away December 10, 2012 at L.R.M.C. of heart failure. Jimmie was born in Plant City on July 13, 1963 to Leo & Florence (Harvill) O'Neal. Jimmie worked for C.J. Bridges as a Rail Road Construction Foreman. Jimmie was a graduate of Mulberry High School class of 1981 and of the Baptist faith. >Jimmie is survived by his wife of 28 years Malisa O'Neal, son Jimmie O'Neal, II, daughters Ashley and Nancy O'Neal, brother Sid O'Neal and many nieces & nephews.  Visitation will be Friday December 14, 2012 at Seigler Funeral Home-Chapel, Hwy. 60 E., Mulberry.

ANNA MARIA, FL. - Alice Christie of Anna Maria, FL, passed away on December 6th, 2012, due to natural causes. Alice was born in Pierce, FL. After graduating from Mulberry High School, class of 1946, she settled in Lakeland, FL, and became a loving and cherished wife and mother - a tireless and compassionate caregiver and friend; retiring to Anna Maria, FL, in the late 1980s. He was a barber for 40 years in Mulberry, and was a veteran of the United States Army. >He is survived by his wife Carolyn L. Bobby moved to Mulberry 16 years ago from Roanoke, Va. Bobby worked for Modern Woodmen of American. MULBERRY - Mr. Anderson Battle Jr. of Mulberry died of heart failure Dec. 4, 2002, at Kindred Hospital in Tampa. He was 70. He was born in Bartow on March 21, 1932. He was a retired Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was held as a POW. He was a member of the Church of the Kingdom of God in Bartow.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Dan Turner Jr. of Lakeland died of a heart attack Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was born in Bartow. He was a retired maintenance worker and worked for W.R. Grace Phosphate for more than 40 years. MULBERRY - Walter R. Murphy, Sr. passed away on November 13, 2013, in Mulberry, of lung cancer. Walter was born on August 10, 1933 in Lakeland, Florida to William C. and Audrey Murphy. Walter worked as an accountant and also did bookkeeping. Mr. Murphy was a licensed private investigator, previous owner of Sentry Barracade, and was an avid genealogist. Mr. Murphy was also a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lakeland, Florida. Walter had many activities that he loved doing including working as president of the Polk County Little League for 15 years (active). Born April 2, 1925 in Mulberry, FL she was a lifelong resident of the area. Annie was a member of the Church Church of God in Auburndale; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Winter Haven; a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

MULBERRY -- Mr. Edmond Sanders of Mulberry died of heart failure Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2004) at Tandem Health Care of Lakeland. He was born in Mulberry on Nov. 30, 1921, he later moved to Bartow. He was a mechanic for a phosphate company. >Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife, Margaret Sanders; daughter, Becky Sanders George, Plant City; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. MULBERRY - Solon Keen 'Jr.' was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, after courageously battling leukemia for 2 1/2 years. He was born in Brewster, FL, to Solon and Susan Walker Keen on August 16, 1938. He was a graduate of Mulberry High School, and worked as an Industrial Mechanic for Brewster Phosphates/ American Cyanamid for over 40 years. Jr. loved being outdoors, and enjoyed fishing; camping; and spending time with his family and dogs. He was a friend of Bill W. for many years and greatly loved this extended family. He also was a fan of the Gators and the Rays. Jr. was a man of great character, gentle strength, and generous spirit. He will be remembered for his humorous wit and story-telling. Jr. was a Christian and regularly attended Highland Park Church in Lakeland. >  Jr. is pre-deceased by his mother, father, and siblings, Asa Crawford Keen, and Irene Elizabeth Alderman. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Tina Cheri Jones and Sandra Elaine Wright, as well as a lifelong companion to their mother, Peggy Sanders Keen. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher Jordan Wright, and Amanda Cheri Wright, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends. He was born in Mulberry, FL, and has been a lifetime resident of Polk County, other than his years in the military. George retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 20 years of service, having served in Vietnam and receiving the Bronze Star medal. After his military service, he joined the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a distributor clerk for over 30 years. >George is preceded in death by sons, Daniel Jenkins and Jason Allen.> He is survived by his wife, Janet Jenkins; sons, David Jenkins of Lakeland, Daniel (Jessica) Allen of Jacksonville, NC, Randy (Sheryl) Scott of Lakeland; daughters, Angel Messineo, Denise Allen; brother, Lou Jenkins of Lakeland; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visitation will be Wednesday (today) from 6-8 p.m. at Gentry Morrison at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at Family Worship Center. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens – Ledger, Wed. Oct. 8, 2014

Mulberry, Aug. 26 – William L. Watson died Friday morning ( Aug. 25, 1933 ) at the Causey sanitarium in Lakeland, after a prolonged illness. >He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Mahalie Purvis (name may be misspelled) of Mulberry, 2 brothers;  Ernest & F. L., both of Jacksonville. The funeral arrangements are in the hands of the Seigler Funeral Home of Mulberry. The funeral services will be held this morning at 10:00 at Beulah Cemetery, with Rev. Walter Allen officiating.
