HIGHLAND CITY - Mr. James Clifford "Cliff" Snead, age 77, died October 6, 2012, with his family by his side, due to heart failure. He was born February 1, 1935 in Lake Alfred, FL. He moved to Highland City in 1996. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy.
Cliff was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Polly Snead; brothers, Thomas Snead and Sammie Snead, and nieces, Carol Miller and Polly Daniel.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Snead and wife Ruth of Summerville, SC; sisters, Barbara Solomon and husband Clair of Highland City, FL and Mary Cox of Lakeland, FL; sister-in-law, Donna Snead of Highland City, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cliff was immensely loved and will be greatly missed by his family. He was affectionately known as the family debater.

Highland City - Waymon Nason, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of respiratory failure. Born February 21, 1927 in Scanlon,FL, Mr. Nason was a longtime resident of Highland City. He was a maintenance mechanic for W.R. Grace Phosphate for many years. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He attended the First Baptist Church of Highland City and was a past member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge.
Mr. Nason was preceded in death by his wife, Helen LeJune Nason and son, Perry Wayne Nason.> He is survived by two sons: Robert L. Nason, Winter Haven and Bruce Nason (Cheryl), Highland City; three daughters: Connie L Akins [Randy], Highland City; Jean Siggers (Lynn), Alabama & Gail Nason, Fort Myers; sister: June Davidson [Bobby], Meridian, MS; 12 grandchildren, & 7 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Monday, April 21, 2014, at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland. –Ledger, Sunday, April 20, 2014
LAKELAND - Eula Jones Banks died December 25, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center from natural causes. She was born July 23, 1911, along with twin sister, Beulah in Birmingham, AL to Jesse and Lenora Jones. She moved to Highland City, FL in 1950 from Holly Pond, AL and worked in the citrus industry until her retirement in 1980. She then became a caregiver providing support and comfort for many families. She was a member of the Highlands United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Eula is survived by son, John (Ann) Banks of Clermont, FL, daughter, Barbara Hall of Lakeland, her 99 year old sister, Camie Thomas of Jacksonville, FL, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Mon. Dec.28, 2009 at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Highlands United Methodist Church. – Ledger, Dec. 27, 2009
