LACY B. GATLIN – 93 -
WINTER
HAVEN -- Mrs. Lacy B. Gatlin of Winter Haven died of
heart failure Monday (Feb. 7, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. She was
93.
Born
in Minor Hill, Tenn., on Feb. 15, 1911, Mrs. Gatlin came
to Winter Haven in 1934. She was
a fruit sectionizer for Bordo's
for 45 years. She was a member
of the Church of the Nazarene in
Winter Haven.
Mrs.
Gatlin was preceded in death by her husband,
David Aubrey Gatlin.
She
is survived by her son, Eugene "Gene" Gatlin,
Winter Haven; daughters, Jeanette Luke, Auburndale, Barbara Hickman,
West Melbourne; brothers, Kenneth, David, and Gene Bullington, all of
Salem, Ala.; sisters, Lucille Scruggs, Pulaski, Tenn., Lottie Adams,
Athens, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; numerous
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation
will be this evening at Ott-Laughlin Funeral
Home, Winter Haven. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral
home chapel. Burial will be in
Lakeside Memorial Park in

GATLIN - 84 - Bordo Citrus
WINTER HAVEN - Alline W. Gatlin, age 84 of Winter Haven passed away at
12:40 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Winter Haven Hospital as a result
of a respiratory failure.
Mrs. Gatlin was born in
Hamilton County, Florida on
March 3, 1925 to the parents
of
John & Corrine
(Smith) Woods. She had been a
resident
of Winter Haven most of her life, retired from
Bordo Citrus,
raised her family and worshipped at the 34th Street West Church of God,
Winter Haven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband’s : (3rd):
Walter Cole Gatlin;( 2nd): Charlie Barrington; (1st:) Harvey Jordon
Thompson; 5 sons: Terry Lee "Buddy" Thompson, James Elliott Thompson,
Billy Darrell Thompson, Eddie Dean Thompson, and Charles Thompson.
She
is
survived by 3 daughters: Martha Clemmons of Auburndale, JoAnn Johnson,
and Donna Barrera of Winter Haven; 11 grandchildren; 24 great
grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren. 2 brothers: John Riley
Woods and John Henry Woods of Winter Haven; 3 sisters: Kathleen Jackson
of Greensboro, S.C., Pauline Courson of Madelin Fogherty of Lake
Butler, FL.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at
Kersey
Funeral Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale, 33823.
Funeral service will be Friday, May 1, 2009 at Kersey Funeral Home.-

ROLAND D. GATLIN – 61 – Self-Employed Computer
Consultant
WINTER
HAVEN -- Mr. Roland D. Gatlin of Winter Haven, a self-employed computer
consultant for 20 years, died of respiratory failure Friday (April 9,
2004). He was 61. "He was very loving, kind, gentle and spiritual," said
Charmian Gatlin, his wife of 41
years.
Mr. Gatlin was born
Nov. 12,
1942, in Eldorado, Ark.
Mrs. Gatlin said her husband had a unique way of looking at things in
his everyday life, which gave him the sense of humor he was known
for."I'll remember his sense of humor most," she said, recalling her
husband's plays on words and nicknames for the grandchildren. Mr.
Gatlin volunteered at his church and spent time talking with young
people. Through the strength of his own beliefs, his wife said, Mr.
Gatlin was able to make the younger people look at their beliefs and
strengthen them."He's the best teacher I've ever known," she said. "He
had a very strong influence on youth."He was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In
addition to his wife, Mr. Gatlin is survived by his sons, Donald "Ten
Bears" M. Gatlin, Virgin, Utah, and Kevin Brady Gatlin, Orem, Utah;
daughters, Holly Lee Gatlin, Winter Haven, and Kelly Dee Stephenson,
Lakeland; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation
will be held this afternoon, at Steele's Family Funeral Home, Winter
Haven.
Services
will be held, Monday at Rolling
Hills
Cemetery, Winter Haven.

KENNETH LENARD GATLIN – 43 - Bus Driver
LAKELAND
-- Mr. Kenneth Lenard Gatlin of Lakeland died of heart failure Saturday
(Aug. 2, 2003) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 43.
He
was born in Lakeland. He was a bus driver for Central Florida
Tours. He was a member of St. Peter's Apostolic Church and New
Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Mr.
Gatlin is survived by his wife, Debbie Gatlin; sons, Kenneth
Gatlin Jr., Christopher Gatlin, Adrian Gatlin, William Gatlin;
daughters, Lakeisha Gatlin, Linda Perry; parents, William and Cora
Gatlin; brother, Greg Adams; sisters, Sharon Mathis-Washington,
Summerfield, Cheryln "Renae" Jones, Shelfraa Fleming, Hope Watson, all
of Lakeland, Sandra Sales, Valrico, Cornelia Smith, Tampa, Renedra
Gatlin; seven grandchildren.
Visitation
will be, this evening at Coney Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday
at New Bethel A.M.E. Church.
