FORT MEADE -- Mrs. Ethel M. Gillispie of Fort Meade died of heart failure Friday (Oct. 11, 2002) at Grace Health Care-Good Shepherd in Lakeland. She was born in Fort Meade on March 23, 1908, she was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.  >She is survived by her daughter, Winifred Cariaga, Lakeland; sons, Zebbie Gillispie, Fort Meade, Phillip Gillispie, Lakeland; sister, Helen Stokes, Lakeland; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
 Memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, P.O. Box 7129, Winter Haven, FL 33883. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McLean Funeral Home in Fort Meade. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. – Ledger, Oct. 13, 2002

FORT MEADE - Hallie Grace Wray Gillispie,passed away peacefully of natural causes on Thursday, May 22, 2008 in Jacksonville, Fl at the home of Sammie Dale and Patricia Gillispie, her son and daughter in law. She was born in Des Arc, Arkansas on December 21, 1917. She worked in Little Rock, Arkansas during World War II where she met her husband, the late Sammie Gillispie, Jr. Hallie was a resident of Fort Meade, FL for the past 62 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade. Hallie was many things to many people. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Her greatest achievement and legacy was her passion for her children and family as well as her love of people, both young and old. The love and dedication she gave us all will be deeply missed. She will live on in our memory as a shining example. > She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Sammie Dale and Patricia Gillispie of Jacksonville, daughter and son in law, Beverly and Michael Graham of Brandon, Miss. her grandsons, Sean Gillispie of Jacksonville Beach, Fl, Sam Gillispie of Oviedo, Fl, Joshua Gillispie of Tallahassee, Fl, Michael Graham of Bossier City, La, and Matthew Graham of Fort Bragg, NC and 7 great-grandchildren.

FORT MEADE - Mr. Phillip J. Gillispie, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014, in Lakeland, FL.  Mr. Gillispie was born September 18, 1938, in Fort Meade, FL, where he lived for many years through his life. He was the retired payroll supervisor for US Agri-Chem, a citrus grower, cattleman, and accountant for the Gillispie family business, Diamond Z Ranch, Inc. Mr. Gillispie was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Fort Meade, a 1956 graduate of Fort Meade High School, and a 1960 graduate of Florida Southern College.  >He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia V. Gillispie; parents, Zebbie and Ethel Hopson Gillispie; and brother, Zebbie L. Gillispie. > Mr. Gillispie is survived by his two daughters; sister, Winifred Carriaga, St. Petersburg, FL; sisters-in-law, Paulette Gillispie, Fort Meade, FL, and Faye Kearce, Inverness, FL; brother-in-law, Cline Jones, Inverness, FL; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 6210 Mt. Pisgah Rd., Fort Meade. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Steve Kavanaugh and Casey Kearse officiating. Interment will be in Mt. FORT MEADE - Mr. Zebbie Lane "Zeb" Gillispie, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 in Fort Meade, FL from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Mr. Gillispie was born October 24, 1946 in Wauchula, and was a lifelong resident of Fort Meade, FL. He was a Cattleman and Citrus Grower; Member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Fort Meade; U.S. National Guard Veteran; Member of Florida Farm Bureau; Elks Lodge; Moose Lodge; Florida Cattleman's Assoc; Fort Meade American Legion, Post #23; Fort Meade Historical Society and Fort Meade High School, Class of 1964.  >Mr. Gillispie was preceded in death by his parents, Zebbie Gillispie, Sr. and Ethel Gillispie, Father-In-Law, Bun Hendrick and sister-in-law, Sylvia Gillispie.  > He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Paulette Gillispie, Fort Meade, FL; son, Zebbie Lane "Z.J." INTERLACHEN - Charles D. Gillispie ,  of Interlachen, passed away 9/20/17. He was born and raised in Ft. Meade and had been a resident of Interlachen for the past 20 years. He served in the USMC during WW II. In his earlier years he had sold life insurance for the former National Standard Life Insurance Company and later sold culverts for Southern Culvert which was later called Champion International.  >Preceding him in death were his parents, Sam and Mable Gillispie; three sisters and a brother.  >Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Donna Sue Gillispie; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Gillispie; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jim Henderson; a step-son and wife, Brian and Brenda Cripe; a step-daughter, Annette Hoover; a brother; three sisters; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Interlachen. FORT MEADE - Mrs. Virginia Grunholzer  Gillispie,a native of Fort Meade was born June, 4, 1926. She died Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Life Care Center of Winter Haven of respiratory failure. She graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1943, after high school she worked for a short time for Florida Motor Services in Jacksonville. Virginia later worked at City Hall in Fort Meade. She moved to Palmetto about 1955, returning to Fort Meade about 1960.     In 1965, she moved to Pompano Beach, returning to Fort Meade in 1996.  While in Pompano Beach, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she taught a ceramic class. She loved square dancing, playing the piano and all kinds of arts and crafts. Including ceramics, knitting, crocheting, tatting and even designing and making clothes for herself and family. Virginia was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. > She is survived by two children: Deborah G. Henderson and husband James of Palatka, Charles David Gillispie and wife Linda of Lighthouse Point; two sisters: Norma G. Jones and Marian G. Clyatt, both of Fort Meade. > She is also survived by five grandchildren: John Michael Henderson of Gainesville, Kevin Henderson of Newberry, Dave Gillispie II of Fort Lauderdale, Kim Gillispie of Pompano Beach and Krystal Belding of Lighthouse Point.  >She is also survived by six great grandchildren: Shawn Michael Henderson, DJ Henderson, Seth Henderson, Abby Henderson, Austin Gillispie and Cody Shirokey. Nieces: Marianne J. Barwick, Paula Winston, Gay Weisenthal and Jan Clyatt. Nephews: Kenneth Jones and John Clyatt.  >She was preceded in death by her parents, John Grunholzer and Jewel Pauline Grunholzer.  McLean Funeral Home of Fort Meade is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, 307 East Broadway in Fort Meade on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Service will follow at 11:00a.m. at First Baptist Church. Internment will be in the mausoleum in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, 1015 Sikes Blvd, Lakeland, FL 33815 or to the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade building fund.
