Mrs. Lula Durrance
Whitman, 81, died last night in Morrell Memorial Hospital in Lakeland
after a brief illness.
She was a Pioneer
resident of Polk County, born near Fort Meade. She was a resident of
the West Lakeland area.
She is survived by her
husband, Thomas B. Whitman of Lakeland; one son, John R. of St.
Petersburg; two sisters, Mrs. R. C. Sanders and Mrs. Juanita D. Smith,
both of Gainesville.
Services will be held
Friday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Whidden Funeral Home. The Rev.
Robert Bledsoe will officiate, assisted by the Rev. R. C. Joiner and
the Rev. Claude Stanfield. - Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery here.
