DONALD H. WILSON- 93 -Jackson Grain Co.
BARTOW - Donald H. Wilson, Sr. of Bartow died Sunday, October 26, 2008. The cause of death was renal failure and old age. He was born September 9, 1915 at the home of his parents Solon and Bessie Wilson on Church Street in Bartow. He graduated from Summerlin Institute and attended the University of Florida where he was a member of the Fighting Gator Marching Band. He remained a devoted Gator fan and was grateful to have finally lived long enough to see the Florida football team win multiple Southeastern Conference and national championships.
 At the outbreak of World War II he joined the navy and was stationed in Panama. After the war he devoted his career to working for the Jackson Grain Company and its successor organizations marketing agricultural chemicals and materials primarily in the citrus industry. He took pride in having worked with many local growers to develop modern citrus production practices.
 He always loved music, and throughout high school and college he played saxophone and clarinet in popular dance bands. After starting his family he took up photography as hobby and photographed many local weddings and special events. He was a former member of the Bartow Kiwanis Club, he worked with the Gulf Ridge Counsel of the Boy Scouts, and was a member of the Associate Reform Presbyterian Church in Bartow.
 He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-seven years, Veulah S. Wilson, a daughter Carolyn W. Albritton (Dale) of Alturas, a son Donald H. Wilson, Jr.( Holly) of Homeland, grandchildren Laura A. McGinnis Andy of Lake Wales and Jeff D. Albritton Tammy of Alturas, and great grandchildren Meredith and Elizabeth McGinnis and Allie Grace, Isaac and Reagan Albritton.
 Funeral services will be held 11 00 on Wednesday at the Associate Reform Presbyterian Church in Bartow with interment following at Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday between 5 00 and 7 00 P.M. at the home of Don and Holly Wilson, 579 4th Street, Homeland. VEULAH SMALL WILSON – 96 -
BARTOW - Veulah S. Wilson, died April 11, 2015, in Bartow. She was born in 1919 on a cattle ranch near Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Her parents were William H. Small and Lula Johnson Small. She grew up in Bartow, graduated from Summerlin Institute, now Bartow High School, and in 1942, she married her high school sweetheart Donald H. Wilson. They were married for 67 years and raised four children in their home on South Oak Avenue in Bartow. Donald died at the age of 93 in 2008.
  Veulah always had a great interest in art, and she was a founding member of the Bartow Art Guild. For many years she was on the committees for the Bartow Spring Arts Show, the Blooming Arts Festival and the Bartow Quilt Show. She taught art for a number of years at the Oaks School in Bartow. She was also active in the Bartow Garden Club and was on the advisory board for the Florida Sheriff's Girls Villa, now Youth Villa.
  Veulah was part of the feminine side of the Greatest Generation, being raised during the Great Depression, working on the home front for the national effort during World War II, and contributing her part to the baby boom that followed. Always at the center of her life was the circle of her family, her church and her community.
  As part of her Southern heritage, she strictly adhered to the belief that a homemade cake or plate of cookies was a remedy for the difficult times of life or an appropriate contribution to the celebration of the good times.
 She was predeceased by her daughter Darlene and son Gary. > She is survived by a sister Gloria Syme of Seneca, South Carolina; her daughter Carolyn Albritton (Dale) of Alturas, Florida, son Donald H. Wilson (Holly) of Homeland, Florida; grandchildren Jeff Albritton and Laura McGinnis (Andy); and great grandchildren Meredith McGinnis, Elizabeth McGinnis, Allie Albritton, Isaac Albritton and Reagan Albritton.
 The family will receive guests Tuesday evening, April 14th, 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the home of Don and Holly Wilson, 579 4th Street, Homeland. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 15th, 1:00 pm at the Associate Reform Presbyterian Church, 205 E. Stanford St., Bartow, with interment to follow at Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions can be made to ARP Church Mission Fund, 205 East Stanford Street, Bartow, Florida, 33830, or to the Polk Education Foundation, Inc., 1530 Shumate Drive, Bartow, Florida, 33830 for the Donald and Veulah Wilson Scholarship Fund.
