>JACKSON, JULIE  MacDOWELL  -72 - Receptionist
 AUBURNDALE - Julie M. Jackson, passed away after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on March 18, 2012. Julie was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on July 11, 1939 to the late Dr. Louis G. and Helen (Gartelmann) MacDowell of Lakeland. She grew up in Lakeland, attending Lakeland High School and Florida State University where she pledged Chi Omega Sorority and studied Home Economics. She married William C. Morgan, MD, of Plant City and had two children. She later married her fellow 1957 LHS classmate, Larry K. Jackson, PhD. They recently celebrated their 37 years of marriage, March 7. Julie lived mostly in Gainesville, Florida, working over 17 years for the Department of Surgery, Shands Hospital, as a receptionist. She was well respected by both the medical staff and students. Upon retirements, she and Larry moved to Lake Juliana, Auburndale, and enjoyed days of gardening, antiquing, collecting, and flea marketing. Julie enjoyed the hunt for hard to find items and she often found them. Also, she was forever faithful in remembering everyone's birthdays and special events with cards and gifts to the very end. >She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Kathleen Bonneman, and her son James Cole Morgan.  >She is survived by her husband, Larry, her sister, Sheila (David) Crum of Plant City, her brother, Louis G. (Valerie) MacDowell of Satellite Beach, brother-in-law, Rick Bonneman of Lake Wales, her daughter, Juliann (Jeff) Thompson of Auburndale, her son, Keith (Patty) Jackson of Lakeland, her son, Kevin (Lydia) Jackson of Satellite Beach, her grandchildren, Alex and Morgan Thompson of Tampa, and Simon Jackson of Satellite Beach, her beloved nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. > A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted on Saturday, March 24 at the Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland with reception in the Tribute Center following the service. The family of Julie wishes to thank the loving staff of Good Shepherd Hospice House, Auburndale, for their wonderful care. AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Christine DeBarry Faircloth, of Auburndale passed away, Friday, August 10, 2012 at Good Shepherd Hospice at Palm Terrace due to cancer. Born Dec. 31, 1932 in Auburndale, Fl she lived most her life here except for time traveling with her husband while in the military. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Auburndale. > She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett in 1980; her parents, and 3 brothers, Lavern, Winifred, Hinton. >She is survived by: 2 sons, David Faircloth and his wife Denise of Lakeland, FL and Douglas Faircloth and his wife Sally of Auburndale, FL; a daughter, Marsha Broxton and her husband Dale of Auburndale; a brother, Grady DeBarry of Tampa; 2 sisters, Ella V. Little Workman of Auburndale and Twila McCleary of Haines City, FL; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. AUBURNDALE - Mr. Clyde L. Fox, of Auburndale passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 in Auburndale due to cancer.  Mr. Fox was born in Lakeland and was a lifetime resident of this area. He served in the USMC during WW II and was a retired supervisor with Continental Can after 35 years. Mr. Fox was a member of the Auburndale Life Church serving as an usher and enjoyed traveling, having spent time in Europe, Israel and the Caribbean. He also had love of family, fishing and Native American Culture. > Mr. Fox is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lillian Watts Fox of Auburndale, 3 sons, Ronnie Fox of Auburndale, Keith Fox of Atlanta and Paul Fox of Auburndale, a daughter, Joy Fox Bryant of Auburndale, 2 sisters, Charlotte Griffin of Zephyrhills and Jeri Carlowe of Arizona. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. >Funeral services will take place Thursday, at the Kersey Funeral Home in Auburndale. AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Mary Catherine Weeks, of Auburndale passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Winter Haven due to heart failure. Mrs. Weeks was born August 25, 1925 in Winter Haven, Florida. She retired in 1992 after 24 years with the Polk County School Board as a Paraprofessional at Auburndale Central Elementary School. Mrs. Weeks was a member of the First Baptist Church of Auburndale having served as Music Director, a Sunday School Teacher and W.M.U. President. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Aux. of VFW Post 4945 having served as President. Mrs. Weeks and her family spent many summers in Ridgecrest, N.C. > She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Weeks and parents, Lawton & Lessie McCullough. >She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Ron) Heintzelman, son Donald (Bobbie) Weeks, a granddaughter, Kristin Heintzelman and a brother Lawton McCullough.  Services will take place Monday at the Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale with visitation following. Those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the Florida Baptist Children's Homes. AUBURNDALE - Kenneth Arnold Cone, died November 4, 2012 at his home in Auburndale, Florida, due to heart failure. Ken was born May 19, 1938 in Ray City, Georgia and moved to Auburndale 56 years ago. Mr. Cone retired as a forklift operator from Owens-Illinois Corporation after 34 years of service. > He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Bruce Cone. >  Mr. Cone is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Cone of Auburndale, son Blake Cone of Lakeland, daughters Marsha Ann Locke of Lakeland and Karen Michelle Cone of Auburndale, sister Margaret Bennett of Valdosta, Georgia. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. AUBURNDALE - Mr. James "Jimmy" Edward Dees, a resident of Auburndale passed away Mon., Nov. 5, 2012 at Tampa General Hospital due to heart failure.  Mr. Dees was born May 19, 1938 in Ocala, FL, to John B. and Alice Tressa (Bryant) Dees. He was an Auburndale resident for over 60 years and retired as the Owner/ Operator in the Carpet Industry. AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Kathleen L. Sutton Cherry, of Auburndale passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Lakeland due to pneumonia. Mrs. Cherry was born in Lawrenceburg, TN. and had lived in this area for the past 60 years. She was a retired Dietary Aid and attended the First Baptist Church of Auburndale. Mrs. Cherry enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. > She was preceded in death by her first husband, James H. AUBURNDALE - Paul Hyman, a resident of Auburndale passed away Wed. November 21, 2012 at the Winter Haven Hospital due to heart failure. Mr. Hyman was born Dec. 15, 1928 in Bonifay, Florida to Ira Oscar and Jewell (Parrish) Hyman. He was an Auburndale resident since 1955 coming from Naples and a retired business owner of grocery stores, car dealerships and a swap shop. Dec. 11, 2012 at Good Shepherd Hospice Residential Center in Auburndale due to natural causes.  Mr. Bailey was born June 19, 1917 in Colquitt, GA. to Preston and Bertha (Rentz) Bailey. He was an Auburndale resident since 1958 coming from GA. She was a resident of Auburndale for over 90 years coming from AL, member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Auburndale, worked for Adams Packing and retired from the admin. dept. at WHH after 15 years. Auburndale - Mr. Leslie Heath, of Auburndale passed away Wednesday (November 22, 2006) at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale due to heart failure. Mr. Heath was a retired mechanic with Snivley Citrus and had lived in Auburndale since 1956, coming from Bonifay. He was also an Army veteran of WWII.

She was born in Houston County, Ala., on Oct. 31, 1903, she lived in Auburndale before moving to Blairsville. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Auburndale. >Miss Burnham is survived by her brother, Charlie Burnham, Panama City, and sisters, Marian Oswald, Mariana, Gwen Granger, Cottonwood, Ala., Frances Edwards, Panama City, and Sybil Jones, Auburndale. >Visitation will be Sunday at Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale. AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Castleberry Webb, of Auburndale passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 due to heart failure. Mrs. Webb was born in Reno, Ga. and was a lifelong resident of Auburndale graduating from Auburndale High School (Class of 45). She married the love of her life, David R. Webb Jr. on April 26, 1947 and they were married for over 55 years until his passing in November of 2002. Mrs. Webb was a member of the Inman Park Church of Christ and was a devoted homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. >She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Foster (Hap) of Auburndale; son, Terrell Owen Webb Sr. (Lucinda) of Auburndale; granddaughters, Sandra Foster of Auburndale & Melissa Webb Finley (Chad) of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons, Michael Curtis Foster (Pam) of Eagle Lake and Terrell Owen Webb Jr. (fiancé Katy Kamnitzer) of Rolla Mo. and great grandson, Tyler Foster of Eagle Lake. AUBURNDALE -- Mr. Henry F. Hurst of Auburndale was a self-made man, working as an electrician and buying and selling boat parts from his home. Mr. Hurst died of heart failure Friday (June 17, 2005). He was born April 16, 1916, in Ocala, he was a former resident of Winter Haven."He was well-known in counties around here for finding rare boat parts," said his granddaughter's husband, Donnie Bastin of Winter Haven. Mr. Hurst also worked as an electrician and was a member of local IBEW union 915 in Tampa. Mr. Hurst grew his own vegetables, a skill he learned growing up in a poor farming family in the Okeechobee area, Bastin said."He grew okra, squash, you name it," Bastin said. "What he didn't use, he gave away."A Seventh-day Adventist, Mr. Hurst strictly complied with the sabbath -- never working from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday, Bastin said. "No matter if he needed the extra money, he wouldn't do business on the sabbath. It was his day of rest. > "Mr. Hurst is survived by his wife, Lucille Hurst; sons, Darrell Hurst, Winter Haven, and Ron Hurst, Auburndale; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Hall, a resident of Auburndale departed this life on Monday, August 12, 2013 into the waiting arms of Jesus due to cancer.  Mrs. Hall was born January 17, 1939 in Picnic, Florida to Albritton. Auburndale - Mr. John B. "J.B." Ott, of Auburndale passed away Tues. (Oct. 17, 2006) at Palm Gardens of Winter Haven due to respiratory failure. Born in Cloudland, Ga., on Jan. 2, 1921 to F.M. & Mellie Ott, he was a retired carpenter & U.S. Army veteran, having served in W.W. II. Mr. O'Neal was born March 16,1927 in Auburndale to George William and Annie (Cooley) O'Neal. AUBURNDALE -- Mrs. Dorothy Jane Hammond enjoyed the social interaction she had with the patients at Winter Haven Hospital, where she worked as a housekeeper."She got to spend quite a bit of time working in the patients' areas. She cleaned their rooms and she loved doing that and being around the patients and meeting the people," said her daughter, Janice Skelton of Auburndale.Mrs. Hammond died of kidney failure Monday (March 27, 2006) at Winter Haven Hospital. The lifelong resident of Polk County was born in Bartow on April 19, 1925, and moved to Auburndale from there 32 years ago. In her younger years, she was an avid fisherman on the lakes of Polk County."She would catch the fish and clean and cook them. I've seen her sit out there and clean a big pile of fish," Skelton said.
 Mrs. Hammond worked at Winter Haven Hospital for 17 years. After her retirement at the age of 63, she returned to the hospital working part-time for a number of years. She was a warm person and affectionately known as "Granny" to many people even outside of her family.She was a longtime member of Lake Region Baptist Church.
 Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, Timothy Hammond, in January.
 In addition to her daughter, Janice Skelton, she is survived by her sons, Warren Hammond and Thomas Hammond, both of Auburndale, and Freddie Hammond, Marbel, N.C.; daughters, Linda Griffith, Haines City, and Wylene Nowell, Auburndale; 22 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be Thursday at OttLaughlin Funeral Home in Auburndale. AUBURNDALE - Wade Ellis Salter passed away at Auburndale Oaks Nursing Home in Auburndale, FL, on Thursday, November 20, 2014, of heart failure. He was born November 25, 1929, in Glennville, Georgia, he relocated to Auburndale in 1953. He worked for Polk County as a truck driver for 19 years until he retired in 1989. He was also a longtime volunteer firefighter for the city of Auburndale.
 Survivors include his wife Vassie 'Christine' Salter, sister Carolyn Weitman, daughter Debbie Burnhart, stepson Henry 'Dale' Pilcher, grandchildren Natalie, Olivia, and Nicholas, and great grandchildren Marissa and Grace. AUBURNDALE - Mr. LeRoy M. Helms, a lifetime resident of Auburndale passed away Thurs., November 5, 2009 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center due to lymphoma. Mr. Helms was born February 7, 1932 in Auburndale to Henry E. and Effie D. (Castleberry) Helms. Mr. Helms was the owner and operator of a recycling drum business and a member of the First Baptist Church of Auburndale. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Auburndale High School in 1950. LeRoy enjoyed the outdoors, cooking and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bobby Helms. LeRoy is survived by his family: wife of 55 years: Janice Helms of Auburndale, FL; 3 sons: Donald L. (Denise) Helms of Lake Alfred, FL, Stephen T. (Jenny) Helms of Auburndale, FL, David S. AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Faye M. Kirkland, a resident of Auburndale passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Kirkland was born January 14, 1928 in Auburndale to George C. and Jean (Norman) Morris, Sr. She was a lifetime resident, member of Parkview Baptist Church in Lakeland and was a retired social worker for the State of Florida. Faye also worked as a social worker for the Florida Baptist Children's Home. She was a member of the Young at Heart Ministry with her church, she enjoyed gardening, baking, antique shopping and loved her family.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband B.J. Kirkland, and brother George Morris, Jr.

AUBURNDALE - Mr. George L. Kirkland, age 91 (May 4, 1918) of Auburndale died Tuesday February 23, 2010 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center of natural causes. Mr. Kirkland was a native of Grant, Alabama and had been a resident of our community since 1953 coming from Alabama. He was a retired Steel Worker for Adams Packing Association and was of the Baptist faith.
 He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, son George H. and a daughter Pauline Parker.
 Survivors include his son James Kirkland of Auburndale; two daughters Jeannette Parker of Antioch, Tennessee and Veta McDonald of Howell, Michigan; one sister Mildred Kaapuni of Orlando; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
