Irene Branch Hancock, age
103, of Palatka, died Friday, March 14, 2003 at Palatka Health Care
Center after an extended illness. The Palatka native had lived in
Palatka since 1917, coming
from Fort Meade, Fla. She was a

(Jacksonville, FL) - March 21, 2003)member of the First Baptist Church in Palatka and was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her daughter: Olivene Hancock Valla, Palatka; son and daughter-in-law: William B. "Billy" Hancock and Alma Hancock, Palatka; five grandchildren: Ray Valla, Gainesville; Lou Valla, Berkley, Calif.; Phil Valla and wife, Paulette Valla, Jacksonville; Tommy Hancock and wife, Betty, Green Cove Springs; Billy Hancock and wife, Debra, Palatka; great-grandchildren: Tiffany Valla, Gabe and Leana Valla, Danny Hancock, Patrick Hancock and Abra Leigh Hancock. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Lakes, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177. No calling hours are planned. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka with the Rev. Gene Maddox officiating. Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka is in charge of arrangements. |
