Betty Joyce - 78 - 1932 - 2001 - Teachers Aide -
Dade City - Betty Chastain of Dade City, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at her residence. She was born October 17, 1932 in Turkey Creek, FL to Dow D. Drawdy and Pearl Everidge Drawdy. She was a longtime area resident and had attended the Northside Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and had been a Teacher’s Aide at Rodney B. Cox Elementary School.
Betty is survived by 3 children: Wayne Chastain, Dennis Chastain, Cheryl Kassabaum; 3 grandchilren: Brooke Juan, Kelly Kaplan, Jordan Kassabaum; and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 14, 2011 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Floral Memory Gardens where she will be interred next to her husband John Chastain.
The familyl received friends for viewing from Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Floyd - 82 - 1929 -
2011 - Retired Teacher
Floyd from Dade City, FL passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Dade City under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He was born August 15, 1929 in Dade City to Shellie & Irene Jones Philmon.
Floyd was a retired teacher and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dade City where he received a Lifetime Deacon Award for 50 plus years of service on the Board of Deacons. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at The University of Florida and was an avid Gator Fan. He was an active sponsor with the Future Farmers of America and served on the board of directors with Pasco County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his children: Tim Philmon, Mark Allen Philmon, Becky Stalnaker; brothers: Thomas A. & Dan L. Philmon; sister: Lillian Burnette; and 2 grandchildren: Ryan and Megan. Funeral services were held 3pm Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Dade City.
Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-7pm Friday evening at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home.
Flowers will be gratefully accepted or those that wish may make donations in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Dade City, to HPH Hospice or a charity of your choice.
